Job Summary: The Warehouse Supervisor will oversee all aspects of warehouse operations in a general construction setting. This role involves managing the receipt, storage, and distribution of construction materials and supplies, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of materials to various job sites. The Warehouse Supervisor will also be responsible for inventory control, maintaining safety standards, and supervising warehouse staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the warehouse, including receiving, storing, and distributing materials.
- Ensure proper inventory control and stock levels are maintained to meet the needs of ongoing construction projects.
- Coordinate with purchasing and project management teams to ensure timely delivery of materials to construction sites.
- Supervise and train warehouse staff, ensuring proper handling of materials and adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of materials received, stored, and distributed.
- Implement and enforce safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all warehouse staff.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure material accuracy and prevent shortages or excess stock.
- Organize and maintain the warehouse to optimize space and improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with the construction team to forecast material needs and ensure timely availability.
- Manage the use of equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.) and ensure it is properly maintained and operated safely.
- Report on warehouse activities to senior management, including updates on material usage, stock levels, and any issues encountered.
- Ensure compliance with legal and environmental regulations related to warehouse operations and materials handling.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a warehouse supervisor or similar role, ideally in a construction environment.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management and construction materials.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, cranes, pallet jacks).
- Good understanding of safety and compliance regulations in a warehouse setting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a team.
- Proficient in using warehouse management software and basic computer applications.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy materials.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in warehouse management or logistics is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the construction industry or familiarity with construction materials.
- Certification in safety management or warehouse operations is a plus but not required.
Working Conditions
- Work will be performed in a warehouse environment, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
- May require the ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including lifting heavy materials and working in tight spaces.
- Ability to work extended hours during peak construction periods.
