Job Description

The Junior Accountant will be responsible for initial validation and recording daily accounting transactions of MVPHI and its subsidiaries into accounting system, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting in reports preparation. He/She will be directly reporting to Finance Assoc. Manager and will have working relationship with MPIC Finance and other departments within the company. The Junior Accountant is expected to have strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards, tax compliance and can deliver outputs on set timelines.

  • Experience in AP and AR processing cycle and month-end closing procedures (accruals monitoring, bank recon, advances and liquidations).

Familiarity in performing daily tasks within SAP or similar ERP systems (e.g., recording supplier invoices, journal entries, pulling trial balances and JEs) as well as maintaining manual set of financial records.

  • Exposure in handling internal and external audits.
  • Experience identifying bottlenecks in accounting tasks and internal controls and suggesting more efficient tools or methods.
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookup and basic logical formula).

  • Attention to Detail & Quality Focus: inclined to double-check work for accuracy and completeness before submission and ability to notice expected trends and investigate material deviations/variances.
  • Reliability & Integrity: High level of personal integrity, takes ownership of assigned tasks and demonstrates a sense of urgency for time-bound outputs.
  • Professional curiosity, proactive learner and receptive to feedback
  • Resourceful in finding solutions before escalation.

  • Data Entry and Validation:
  • Record day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring data entered into accounting system is accurate, correct GL classifications, timely and compliant with tax and other government regulations.
  • Verifying that every entry has appropriate and correct supporting documentation (BIR invoices, receipts, contracts, purchase orders, working files) to ensures clean audit trail and tax compliance.
  • Capital expenditures (CAPEX) and operating expenses (OPEX) are properly classified, recorded and monitored.

  • Financial Reports and Reconciliations:
  • Assist in preparation of periodic internal and external financial reports to ensure timely submission. Reports include but not limited to:
  • Weekly and monthly plant reports validation for invoicing.
  • Monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Monthly expanded withholding tax and quarterly VAT schedule.
  • Accruals monitoring and updating.
  • Other monthly reporting schedules and monitoring as assigned.
  • Ability to assist in preparing Balance Sheets, Income Statements, and Cash Flow Statements is an advantage.

  • Internal and External Audit
  • Assist in the timely completion of audit by SGV or other external/internal bodies by collating/summarizing documents, preparation of needed schedules and other tasks.

  • Internal Controls:
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure policy compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in the implementation of best practices.

  • Documentation and Recordkeeping:
  • Ensure accurate and organized documentation of financial transactions and policies.
  • Maintain compliance with internal accounting policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • ERP Trainings Certifications (SAP, Netsuite of similar systems) is a plus
  • Ability to work in an autonomous environment while maintaining clear communication
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in Excel
