Role Overview
We are seeking a Junior Solar PV Design Engineer to contribute to the design and engineering efforts for rooftop solar PV projects. The ideal candidate will possess a foundational understanding of solar PV system design principles and an eagerness to learn and apply skills in utilizing software such as PVsyst or equivalent for energy yield calculations, shading analysis, and financial modeling.
- Support Design Development: Collaborate with senior design engineers to assist in developing preliminary layouts, technical specifications, and design development plans for rooftop solar PV projects.
- Assist in Site Assessments: Aid technical assessors in conducting comprehensive site assessments, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis to support project design and development.
- Utilize PV Design Software: Under the guidance of senior engineers, use PV system design software like PVsyst or equivalent for energy yield calculations, shading analysis, and financial modeling to optimize system performance and feasibility.
- Drafting and Drawing: Utilize design software such as AutoCAD to assist in generating preliminary and detailed engineering drawings and layouts for project documentation and planning.
- BOM Development: Support the preparation of Bills of Materials (BOMs) under the guidance of senior engineers, detailing required materials, quantities, and costs for each project.
- Documentation Support: Assist in maintaining accurate documentation of design revisions, BOMs, project-related communications, and software outputs.
- Collaborative Support: Work closely with senior design engineers and cross-functional teams to address design-related challenges, optimize project outcomes, and ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Technical Research: Conduct research on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments related to solar PV design and engineering, contributing insights to project development efforts.
- Quality Assurance: Assist in reviewing engineering drawings, layouts, BOMs, and software outputs to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with project objectives.
- Project Coordination: Support project managers and implementation teams as needed during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, providing technical assistance and documentation support.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in solar PV system design and engineering, with a focus on rooftop installations.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and PVsyst for generating engineering drawings and conducting energy yield calculations.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, power electronics, and grid interconnection requirements for solar PV installations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers, fostering their professional development.
- Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to rooftop solar PV systems.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for accurately developing Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and tracking project progress.
- Commitment to staying updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement.
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
