With growth accelerating across both entities, our client is strengthening its finance team to support project-based operations, improve reporting accuracy, and build scalable systems that can support long-term expansion.
About the Role
Our client is hiring an Accountant who will split time 50/50 between two growing entities within the group. The role will initially support both businesses equally, with potential to shift focus as operational needs evolve. This position reports directly to the Controller and plays a critical role in managing full-cycle accounting, supporting project-level financial tracking, and strengthening processes in a dynamic, evolving environment.
The ideal candidate is confident owning project profitability reporting, comfortable working with high transaction volumes, and capable of identifying gaps in systems while helping build structure and scalability.
Responsibilities
Accounting & Ledger Management
- Prepare and post accounting transactions including cash, credit card expenses, accruals, and capital asset invoices
- Maintain accurate general ledger records and perform monthly reconciliations
- Investigate discrepancies and ensure financial data integrity
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Manage high-volume vendor invoices across both entities
- Ensure accurate coding, approvals, and documentation
- Maintain vendor relationships, negotiate payment terms when needed, and resolve discrepancies
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Oversee timely billing, invoicing, and collections
- Monitor receivables and proactively follow up on outstanding balances
Project Accounting & Costing
- Manage project-level cost tracking and accruals
- Prepare and analyze project-level P&L reports
- Monitor project budgets and profitability
- Independently assess project financial performance and present findings to leadership
Reporting & Analysis
- Support month-end close processes
- Prepare financial reports and provide analytical insights
- Interpret financial data, identify trends, and flag risks or anomalies
Process & Systems Improvement
- Work within QuickBooks to manage accounting workflows
- Support improvements in financial processes and reporting structures
- Help build scalable systems in an evolving operational environment
- Utilize Sage Intacct where applicable (if implemented)
Competencies and Qualifications
Must-Have
- 35+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks
- Experience with full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Experience in project accounting and project costing
- Ability to manage high transaction volumes accurately
- Strong general ledger reconciliation experience
- Proven analytical skills with ability to interpret financial data and identify trends
- Ability to independently identify and resolve accounting challenges
- Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal)
- Comfortable presenting project-level profitability and financial insights
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Nice-to-Have
- CPA or other accounting certification (CPA, CA, CMA)
- Experience in the construction or project-based industry
- Experience with Sage Intacct
- Experience overseeing broader financial transaction flows
- Prior experience building or improving accounting processes in a growing company
