The Role

We're seeking a Staff Accountant to support a U.S.-based finance firm. This role is ideal for a proactive accounting professional who excels in a remote environment and is passionate about delivering accurate, timely, and actionable financial data to small and mid-sized businesses.

As a Staff Accountant, you will support multiple client engagements under the guidance of the client's CFOs. You'll own the full bookkeeping process, implement best practices, support monthly close activities, and help ensure financial accuracy across multiple accounts. You will also collaborate closely with CFOs and clients to maintain smooth financial workflows that support strategic decision-making.

Location: Philippines Remote

Environment: Philippines & International Teams

Language: Advanced English (B2+C1)

Timezone: 8 AM5 PM EST

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Experience

  • 35+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience, ideally supporting multiple clients or industries
  • Advanced QuickBooks Online proficiency
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting tools (e.g., Xero, NetSuite, FreshBooks)
  • Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
  • High attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in a remote environment
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage priorities with minimal supervision
  • Experience in a remote, outsourced, or fractional CFO environment (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and project management tools (Asana, Trello)

Responsibilities

Full-Cycle Bookkeeping & Reconciliations

  • Manage and record all financial transactions, including A/P, A/R, payroll entries, and journal entries
  • Maintain and update general ledgers with accuracy and compliance
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts monthly and resolve discrepancies

Close & Reporting Support

  • Handle monthly and quarterly close activities: schedules, reconciliations, and draft financial reports
  • Maintain supporting documentation for audits and internal reviews
  • Partner with CFOs to deliver accurate and insight-driven financial packages

Process Improvement & Standardization

  • Implement standardized bookkeeping processes across client accounts
  • Recommend improvements to internal workflows for efficiency and accuracy
  • Support onboarding of new clients, including systems and process setup

Client Communication & Collaboration

  • Serve as a key point of contact for day-to-day accounting matters
  • Proactively communicate missing information, unusual activity, or areas of concern
  • Attend regular check-ins to align on goals, deliverables, and expectations
