Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with internal quality management systems and applicable standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 45001, customer-specific requirements).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality plans, control plans, and inspection criteria across wafer fabrication, assembly, and test processes.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (RCA, CAPA) for internal defects, customer complaints, and audit findings using structured problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
  • Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics such as yield, defect density, DPPM, scrap, and rework; drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI), process qualification, and change management activities (ECN/MCO) to ensure quality readiness.
  • Conduct process audits, product audits, and line walks to verify adherence to procedures and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Supplier Quality, and R&D teams to resolve quality issues and improve process capability (Cp/Cpk).
  • Review and approve quality documentation including work instructions, SOPs, FMEA, Control Plan, and inspection records.
  • Manage nonconforming material report (NCR) through MRB disposition, risk assessment, and containment actions.
  • Support customer audits, quality reviews, and technical discussions; prepare reports and responses to customer inquiries.
  • Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and defect prevention initiatives to reduce cost of poor quality (COPQ).
  • Ensure compliance with ESD, contamination control, cleanroom protocols, and reliability requirements.
  • Provide quality training and coaching to production and support teams to strengthen quality awareness and discipline.
  • Participate in reliability testing, failure analysis (FA), and qualification reviews to ensure product robustness.
  • Maintain accurate quality records and ensure data integrity for traceability and audit readiness.

Education & Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Atleast 5 yrs experience in semiconductor industry

Skills

  • Leadership capabilities to manage a virtual team
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and enjoy the process of problem-solving
  • Work effectively with other members of Coherent Corp.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes (wafer fab, assembly, test, packaging).
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and standards (ISO 9001, ISO 45001 customer requirements).
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis and problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, FMEA).
  • Experience with defect analysis, yield improvement, SPC, and quality metrics (DPPM, Cp/Cpk).
  • Ability to manage nonconforming material, MRB disposition, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Audit and compliance skills, including internal, process, and customer audits.
  • Documentation and traceability discipline for SOPs, control plans, and quality records.
  • Data analysis and reporting skills to drive data-based quality decisions.
  • Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.
  • Continuous improvement mindset using Lean, Six Sigma, and defect prevention methods.
