Job Description:

The Principal Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for driving engineering excellence across products, processes, and manufacturing systems, leading our Assembly and Manufacturing efforts for high reliability power modules and discrete semiconductors. This role also will drive New Product Qualification / Introduction process for next generation power solutions while spearheading sustaining engineering initiatives and continuous process improvements for our current high-mix high-reliability portfolios. As a subject‑matter expert in semiconductor packaging to bridge gap between R&D / NPI Build to high-volume-manufacturing, ensuring that our power modules - similar to Microchip standards - meet rigorous thermal and electrical demands of aerospace, defense, and industrial applications, ensuring robust, scalable, and cost‑effective engineering solutions.

The Principal Engineer collaborates cross‑functionally with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and external partners to support product development, yield improvement, localization initiatives, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with company quality policies and engineering standards.

Technical Leadership & Engineering Excellence

  • Serve as the highest-level technical expert within the organization or domain.
  • Lead the assembly portion of the New Product Introduction (NPI) roadmap, ensuring manufacturability from prototype to mass production.
  • Define, review, and approve engineering architecture, standards, and best practices. Execute qualification plans according to JEDEC/MIL-STD-883 and MIL-PRF38534.
  • Lead resolution of high-impact, high-complexity technical issues across products, processes, or manufacturing systems.
  • Provide technical guidance during design reviews, risk assessments, and failure investigations.
  • Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex electrical, mechanical, process, or material‑related issues affecting yield, quality, reliability, or cost.

Strategic Engineering Direction

  • Translate business, quality, cost, and delivery goals into long-term technical road maps.
  • Driving technology selection, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and mitigate technical and manufacturing risks early in the development lifecycle.
  • Partner with senior leadership to support capital investment, automation, and digitalization strategies.

Manufacturing & Process Excellence

  • Act as technical authority for manufacturing engineering processes, equipment, and systems.
  • Lead development and optimization of process capability, yield, reliability, and scalability.
  • Champion design-for-manufacturability (DFM), design-for-automation (DFA), and design-for-quality (DFQ).
  • Support equipment qualification, process validation, and root-cause analysis (RCA).
  • Support new product introduction (NPI), process start-up, and production ramp- up activities.
  • Lead Statistical Process Control (SPC) initiatives to reduce variability and improve Cpk on critical assembly dimensions
  • Ensure processes are well documented, technically sound, and effectively transferred through training and certification.

Mentorship & Knowledge Leadership

  • Mentor Senior Engineers, Staff Engineers, and technical specialists.
  • Drive knowledge sharing through technical reviews, documentation, and best-practice dissemination.
  • Establish engineering competency standards and contribute to talent development frameworks.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, R&D, and Program Management.
  • Act as the primary technical escalation point for customer, supplier, and regulatory topics.
  • Influence without authority across global and cross-disciplinary teams.

Material & Component Expertise

  • Provide engineering leadership in materials selection, evaluation, and qualification process.
  • Evaluate supplier materials and components for performance, reliability, compliance, and cost.

Documentation & Communication

  • Produce and review high‑quality technical documentation, including:
    • Engineering reports
    • Process documentation
    • Technical justifications
    • Failure analysis reports
  • Present complex technical information clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Provide regular technical updates and recommendations for engineering and operations leadership.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Material Science, Electronics & Communication Engineering or related disciple
  • Typically, 10+ years of progressive engineering experience in manufacturing, electro‑mechanical systems, power devices, or related fields.
