Job Summary
The Instructional Designer is responsible for analyzing learning needs and designing effective, engaging, and outcomes-driven learning solutions. The role focuses on translating business and performance requirements into structured learning objectives, instructional strategies, assessments, and learning blueprints that support employee capability development. The
Instructional Designer works closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), trainers, and content developers to ensure learning programs are instructionally sound, learner-centered, and aligned with organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Learning Analysis & Solution Design
- Design learning solutions that effectively address identified performance gaps and support measurable business and capability outcomes.
- Define clear, measurable learning objectives and assessment strategies that enable effective evaluation of learning success.
- Develop structure learning approaches including content flow, delivery methods, and learner experience design.
Instructional Design Development
- Develop high-quality instructional design documents, storyboards, and learning blueprints that guide content development and delivery
- Ensure learning solutions are grounded in sound instructional design principles and adult learning theories
- Ensure design outputs are clear, complete, and usable for development and implementation
Assessment & Evaluation Strategy
- Design assessment and evaluation approaches that provide reliable evidence of learning effectiveness.
- Incorporate evaluation data and feedback to inform design improvements and learning enhancements.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with SMEs and L&D stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective learning solutions.
- Ensure shared understanding and alignment on learning goals, scope, and success measures.
- Provide clear direction and guidance during content development to maintain alignment with design intent
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant instructional documentation in accordance with L&D standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by refining design practices, tools, and templates.
- Stay current with trends in instructional design, learning technologies, and digital learning strategies
Requirements & Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Psychology, Communications, or a related field.
- Certification in Instructional Design, Learning & Development, or related fields is an advantage.
Experience
- At least 2–3 years of experience in instructional design, learning design, or a related L&D role.
- Experience designing learning solutions for corporate, professional, or technical environments.
- Experience with e-learning authoring tools and blended learning approaches.
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and digital learning environments.
- Experience working with SMEs and cross-functional stakeholders.
Skills And Competencies
Technical Skills:
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency inInstructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM), with the ability to apply structured design approaches to learning solutions
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in learning theories (e.g., Bloom's Taxonomy, Gagne's Nine Events, Adult Learning Principles), with the ability to translate theory into practical design decisions
- Intermediate proficiency in assessment and evaluation design (e.g., Kirkpatrick Model), with the ability to define appropriate measures of learning effectiveness
- Intermediate proficiency in learning needs analysis and curriculum design, including research, information gathering, and synthesis of inputs from stakeholders and subject matter experts
- Working proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to support documentation, analysis, and presentation of learning solutions
- Working proficiency in content authoring tools and LMS environments
- Working proficiency in AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot) to support analysis, design, and content structuring
