As the Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and strengthening the company's accounting and financial reporting functions. You will begin by managing bookkeeping and transactional accounting, progress to financial statement preparation, and ultimately support tax reporting and compliance. This role requires Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) accreditation, strong initiative, solid analytical skills, and the ability to build and lead a small finance team.
Key Responsibilities
Work closely with the CFO and Senior Finance Manager to ensure accounting processes align with regional accounting standards (UK, Australia, USA).
Core Accounting & Financial Reporting Phase I
- Maintain accurate and timely bookkeeping, including recording all financial transactions.
- Perform daily general ledger entries, reconciliations, and month-end close tasks.
- Lead the preparation periodic financial reports including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement.
Tax Compliance & Statutory Reporting Phase II
- Support preparation of documentation for local tax filings, declarations, and staff-related filings.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with regional tax regulations.
- Assist in audit preparation and statutory reporting requirements.
Financial Analysis & Support Phase III
- Assist in financial analysis for budgeting, forecasting, and planning.
- Generate financial insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.
Team Development & Process Improvement
- Build, mentor, and manage a small accounting and finance support team as the function scales.
- Develop, document, and standardize accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Drive process improvements to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Implement and optimize accounting software, ERP systems, and cloud-based financial tools.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Partner with cross-functional teams including operations, procurement, and supply chain.
- Act as a trusted finance partner to the CFO and Senior Finance Manager.
Required Qualifications:
Education & Certifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Philippines CPA or international equivalent (required), or Chartered Accountant (CA).
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
- Demonstrated exposure to UK, Australian, or US accounting environments and Anglo-Saxon financial statement preparation.
- Hands-on experience with bookkeeping, month-end close, and financial statement preparation, tax filings.
- Experience supporting tax compliance and statutory reporting.
