Job Description

Job Summary

The Finance Manager serves as the strategic and operational leader of LAIC's financial management functions,

ensuring financial stewardship and compliance with regulatory requirements such as accounting standards and tax. The role oversees accounting operations, financial reporting, tax compliance, budgeting, and financial analysis to support data-driven decision-making. The Finance Manager also partners with leadership to manage budgets and operating expenses, as well as to evaluate initiatives and growth opportunities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Accounting and Controllership

  • Establish and oversee accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS).
  • Implement strong internal controls, accounting policies, and documentation processes to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.

Tax and Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and other statutory requirements (e.g., SEC, local government).
  • Ensure timely filing of tax returns and other regulatory requirements.
  • Manage internal/external audits and other regulatory inspections.

Budget and Financial Planning

  • Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with Mancom, aligning resource allocation with strategic priorities.
  • Work with the Mancom to regularly report and monitor budget performance, highlight variances, and recommend corrective measures.
  • Prepare periodic financial forecasts and cash flow projections.

Financial Analysis and Growth Modeling

  • Conduct financial analysis and develop models to evaluate various initiatives and growth opportunities (e.g., short courses, partnerships, grants, endowments).
  • Provide financial insights to support strategic initiatives and long-term sustainability.
  • Prepare feasibility studies, ROI analyses, and business cases for proposed programs and investments.

Strategic and Values-Based Leadership

  • Serve as a Finance Partner to the President, Managing Director, and Mancom.
  • Promote stewardship and accountability in financial management practices.
  • Lead the Finance team. Provide guidance, performance support, and development and growth opportunities.
Key Performance Indicators
  • Financial Reporting: Timeliness and accuracy of monthly and annual financial reports.
  • Compliance: Compliance with all statutory deadlines and requirements. No penalties or missed deadlines.
  • Budget Management: Variance between actual and approved budget.
  • Cash Flow Management: Liquidity and reserve adequacy.
  • Financial Analysis: Quality and timeliness of financial models and reports.
  • Audit and Controls: Internal control compliance. No material weaknesses identified.
  • Leadership and Stewardship: Staff engagement and retention.
QualificationsEducation and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field. CPA required.
  • At least 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Skills and Competencies
  • In-depth knowledge of Philippine regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
  • High level of integrity and accountability
