Database Administrator

Job Responsibilities:

• Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on application design
• Design and implement database in accordance with end users information
• Define, manage, and optimize database access (user/security maintenance)
• Implement backup configuration standards
• Establish a disaster recovery protocol
• Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses
• Determine, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and standards
• Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity
• Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required
• Provide end-to-end technical support and problem resolution

Database Administrator Qualifications/Skills:

• Strong command of administration and support of Oracle,MSSQL, and any of open-source databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL) are an added advantage
• Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
• PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills is an advantage
• Having experience with service management tools (Cherwell or Remedy etc.)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Impeccable attention to detail
• Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills
• Highly organized and responsible
• Capable of working under pressure
• Up to date with trends and developments in database administration

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in database administration and IT Support
• Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments
• Extensive experience with database technologies Oracle, MS SQL,and open-source databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL) along with certification is a plus
• Experience with cloud services and DevOps tools is a plus
