The Opportunity
We are seeking a high-aptitude, systems-minded Data Analytics Support Analyst to join a lean, high-intensity team of fewer than 30 people. In this role, you will be the architect of our data future, leading a critical migration from AWS Aurora to a scalable warehouse like Redshift while managing our multi-tenant data modeling. This is a unique opportunity for an AI-native professional who can balance high-level architecture with hands-on execution, ensuring our internal teams and external clients have the precise insights they need to scale.
What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like
- End-to-End Analytics: Translate complex business questions into advanced SQL and manage 10–15 weekly reporting requests for internal and external stakeholders.
- Data Warehouse Migration: Partner with Engineering to design and execute the transition from our transactional database (PostgreSQL) to a modern data warehouse (AWS Redshift).
- Vendor Management: Act as the primary lead for our offshore reporting agency, delegating routine BI tasks to focus your time on high-level modeling.
- Multi-Tenant Data Modeling: Manage a complex database of 150-200 tables, ensuring robust row-level security and accurate data definitions across all client accounts.
- BI Tool Ownership: Serve as the SME for Omni, optimizing pre-aggregated summaries and denormalized views to improve performance and clarity.
What You Bring
- Advanced SQL Mastery: Deep proficiency in writing complex queries, including CTEs and window functions, to manipulate large datasets.
- AI Fluency: A human-plus-AI mindset with the ability to leverage tools like ChatGPT or Claude to accelerate SQL generation and problem-solving.
- Cloud Infrastructure Knowledge: Strong familiarity with the AWS ecosystem (Redshift, Aurora) and PostgreSQL.
- Data Visualization Excellence: A proven track record of designing clean, accurate, and visually compelling dashboards in Omni, Looker, or Tableau.
- Startup Agility: The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing ambiguity and taking proactive ownership without a rigid manual.
- Stakeholder Communication: Exceptional ability to translate technical data concepts into plain language for clients and business leaders.
Bonus Points if:
- You have experience in the logistics or construction industries.
- You are familiar with Ruby on Rails backend conventions, specifically ActiveRecord and polymorphic associations.
