Job Description

About the Role

We're looking for a Cost Accountant who will serve as the financial backbone of our projects ensuring every peso spent is traceable, justified, and aligned with budget reality. You'll sit at the core of Finance, working closely with Engineering, Operations, and Department Leads to ensure that every peso spent is traceable, justified, and strategically aligned with our business objectives. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in cross-functional environments, loves solving cost puzzles, and drives clarity where others see complexity.

What You'll Do

  • Validate and monitor all project and departmental costs, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with approved budgets and scope.
  • Coordinate directly with department leads to review budget utilization, clarify spending justifications, and ensure financial discipline across all functions.
  • Reconcile and analyze project and department cost data with the general ledger; collaborate closely with AP, Procurement, and Engineering for proper coding, timing, and documentation.
  • Provide clear insights on cost variances and composition explaining not just what changed, but why to support data-driven decisions by management
  • Own accruals and cost allocations for shared resources (utilities, rental, and administrative overhead) during month-end close, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Partner cross-functionally with project managers and department leads to resolve cost-related queries, confirm scope vs. actuals, and drive proactive cost control.
  • Prepare and present regular cost reports on budget utilization, burn rates, and costforecasts turning data into actionable insights for management.

What Success Looks Like

  • Projects are consistently closed with zero unexplained variances and clean reconciliations.
  • Finance, Project teams, and Department leads have real-time visibility on cost status and forecasted needs.
  • Accruals and allocations are accurate, timely, and defensible during audits or reviews.
  • The Cost Accountant is viewed as a trusted financial partner, not just a record-keeper.

What You'll Bring

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA is a plus.

24 years of experience in cost accounting, project accounting, or construction finance.

Strong analytical and reconciliation skills; mastery of Excel or Google Sheets is a must.

Working knowledge of ERP or accounting systems (SAP, NetSuite, etc.).

A proactive mindset you don't just report costs; you understand and challenge them.
