Job Description

Job Summary

The Construction Manager is responsible for planning, supervising, and managing the execution of power and solar PV construction projects to ensure they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with technical and regulatory requirements. The role requires strong technical expertise in electrical engineering, proven experience in the power industry, and leadership in managing site operations and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Plan, organize, and oversee construction activities for power and solar PV projects.
  • Ensure project milestones, schedules, and deliverables are met according to contract requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.

Site Management

  • Serve as the primary Site Manager for assigned projects, supervising construction teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with design drawings, technical specifications, and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and progress reviews to ensure quality and safety standards are maintained.

Technical Oversight

  • Provide technical guidance on electrical systems, power distribution, and solar PV installations.
  • Review and approve technical documents, drawings, and method statements.
  • Resolve technical issues and coordinate with design engineers and consultants

Health, Safety, and Compliance

  • Enforce HSE policies and ensure all site activities comply with safety regulations and company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with local government regulations, permits, and utility interconnection requirements.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare progress reports and present updates to management and stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Administration

  • Lead and mentor site engineers, supervisors, and project staff.
  • Monitor manpower deployment, productivity, and subcontractor performance.
  • Manage site documentation, reports, and records.

Education

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering (licensed/registered preferred).

Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the power industry (generation, transmission, distribution, or renewable energy).
  • Must have served as Site Manager for at least two (2) solar PV projects.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale construction projects and multidisciplinary teams.

Skills & Competencies

  • Fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power infrastructure, and solar PV technologies.
  • Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Proficient in MS Office and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent).
