The Role
We're seeking a
Senior Bookkeeper. This role is designed for a solutions-driven, detail-oriented accounting professional with full-cycle bookkeeping expertise and a passion for transforming complex or disorganized financial records into clear, accurate statements.
You'll play a key role in compiling, producing, and delivering accurate financial statements, managing the bookkeeping cycle, supporting client onboarding, and improving internal accounting processes.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or in a related field is preferred
- 5+ years of experience with end-to-end bookkeeping, including reconciliations and financial report reviews
- Experience in developing and enforcing standards
- Experience in working in a highly confidential environment
- Experience in payroll filing, processing, and tax agency interactions is preferred
- Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas is preferred
- Strong working knowledge of financial statements, including profit and loss and balance sheet, and can review/explain to clients
- Understands month-end close procedures
- Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and organizational structure
- Advanced QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop, Excel, and Google Suite user who enjoys learning new technology and using it to full functionality
- Proficient at researching issues and problem-solving

Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
Experience
- 5+ years in end-to-end bookkeeping, including reconciliations and financial report reviews
- Experience developing and enforcing accounting standards
- Experience in highly confidential environments
- Experience in payroll filing, processing, and tax agency interactions (preferred)
- Experience working with multiple legal entities (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet) and ability to explain them to clients
- Understanding of month-end close procedures

Responsibilities
- Maintain records of financial transactions by establishing accounts, posting transactions, and ensuring legal requirements compliance
- Ensure the internal administrative process is followed in the new client onboarding process
- Develop a system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts and defining bookkeeping policies and procedures
- Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions
- Balance subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries
- Maintain the general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries
- Balance general ledger by preparing a trial balance and reconciling entries
- Maintain historical records by filing documents
- Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
- Evaluate new client information, processes, and accounting practices and determine where processes need revision
- Establish an accounting interface for new clients in the QuickBooks system
- Prepare and complete acquisition entries to establish the business in QuickBooks
- Transfer the on-boarded client to the Account Managers within three months
- Meet all end-of-month accounting deadlines and ensure they are met for the Account Manager Team
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing reports, and advising management on needed actions
- Provide customer service excellence to small business owner clients
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
