VIDEO EDITOR — POSITION OVERVIEW

We're looking for a skilled Video Editor to produce polished, on-brand video content for our contractor clients and for internal use. You'll work primarily on Meta ad videos — taking raw client footage and turning it into scroll-stopping, click-worthy content that drives real leads for land clearing, excavation, and site prep businesses.

This is not a passive editing role. You'll bring creative judgment to every project — knowing when to cut, how to pace, and how to make a 15-second video feel made for that exact audience. You'll also help us develop AI-generated video content for clients who don't yet have footage of their own, ensuring it looks realistic and industry-accurate.

When you're not editing client ad content, you'll support our internal content pipeline — editing podcast episodes for our business YouTube channel and cutting short clips for social media.

WHAT WE OFFER

Pay Rate: $6–10 USD hourly

Paid Time Off (PTO): 10 days (80 hours) per year, prorated first year

Paid Holidays: 10 paid holidays per year

Location: Remote – Flexible work environment

Position Type: Full-Time

Hours: 40 hours/week - US Central Time zone

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Client Ad Video Production

Edit Raw Footage: Transform raw client footage into compelling, high-converting short-form video ads for Facebook and Instagram.

Cut, Trim & Sequence: Shape clips to match the content brief and brand tone for each client — pacing, hook, and payoff all matter.

B-Roll & Overlays: Add B-roll, transitions, text overlays, and captions to enhance storytelling and stop-the-scroll impact.

Audio Production: Sync audio, remove background noise, and mix voice, music, and sound effects for a clean, professional output.

Multi-Length Delivery: Deliver edits in multiple lengths for different placements (e.g., 60s, 30s, 15s Reels).

 

AI Video Creation

AI-Generated Content: Develop AI video content for clients who don't yet have raw footage — particularly new businesses in land clearing, excavation, and site prep.

Realism Standards: Ensure AI-generated content looks authentic — equipment, settings, and on-the-job environments must reflect how contractors actually work, not generic AI output.

Tool Awareness: Stay current on AI video tools and bring recommendations to the team as the landscape evolves.

 

Color & Audio Post-Production

Color Grading: Apply color correction and grading for visual consistency across all clips in a project.

Audio Standards: Deliver exports with audio normalized to platform-specific standards.

Multi-Source Matching: Match color profiles and exposure across multi-camera or stock footage cuts.

 

Motion Graphics & Animation

Graphics & Animation: Create lower thirds, title cards, and animated text elements.

Branded Elements: Build branded intros and outros using templates or custom motion graphics.

Collaboration: Work with our graphic designer on custom visual assets when needed.

 

Platform Formatting & Export

Format for Platform: Export video in correct formats for each platform (MP4, MOV, H.264, etc.).

Aspect Ratios: Format for correct aspect ratios: 16:9 (YouTube/Feed), 9:16 (Reels/Stories), 1:1 (Square) as required.

Captions & Compression: Add captions/subtitles and compress files to meet upload limits without sacrificing quality.

 

Podcast & Internal Content

Podcast Editing: Edit podcast episodes for our business YouTube channel — clean audio, cut dead air, add graphics and lower thirds.

Social Clips: Cut short clips from podcast episodes for social media distribution.

Consistent Delivery: Deliver polished, publish-ready episodes on time, every time.

 

Revision & File Management

Feedback Implementation: Implement feedback from the team or clients quickly and accurately.

File Organization: Maintain organized project folders with raw assets, working files, and clearly labeled final exports.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Must-Have Experience

• 2+ years of professional video editing experience — ideally for ads, social media, or marketing content

• Strong portfolio showing short-form video editing for paid social (Facebook/Instagram Reels preferred)

• Experience with color grading, audio mixing, and motion graphics — not just cutting and assembling clips

• Proficiency with at least one industry-standard editing tool: Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, etc.

• Experience formatting and exporting video for multiple social platforms

• Comfortable working remotely and managing multiple projects with consistent on-time delivery

 

Nice to Have

• Experience editing content for home services, construction, or contractor industries

• Familiarity with AI video generation tools (Sora, Runway, Pika, or similar)

• Experience with Adobe After Effects for motion graphics

• Podcast or long-form video editing experience

• Familiarity with CapCut, Descript, or similar tools

• Familiarity with ClickUp for task management and team communication

 

Tools You Should Know

• Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro

• Adobe After Effects or equivalent for motion graphics

• Adobe Audition or Descript for audio editing

• Frame.io or Wipster for client review and feedback

• CapCut, Canva, or Adobe Express for quick asset creation

• AI video generation tools — proficiency or strong willingness to learn

• ClickUp for task management and team communication

 

Soft Skills

• Creative eye — you know what grabs attention and what falls flat in a 3-second scroll window

• Detail-oriented — you catch the wrong aspect ratio, off-sync audio, and caption typos before anyone else does

• Self-directed and reliable — you manage your own deadlines in a remote environment without needing to be chased

• Clear communicator — you ask before you assume and flag delays before they become problems

• Curious and current — you pay attention to what's performing on Meta and bring that context to your edits

SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

• Client ad videos are ready to launch without requiring excessive additional editing passes from the team

• First cuts land well — feedback rounds are minimal and focused

• Project folders are clean and final deliverables are clearly labeled so no one is hunting for the right file

• AI video content looks realistic and accurate to the work contractors actually do — not obviously AI-generated

• Podcast episodes are edited and delivered on schedule, consistently

• When new AI video tools improve, you bring options to the table before we ask
