Job Description

Title: Technical Consultant

Position Description: We are seeking a Technical Consultant with experience in large scale network and utility system deployment.

In this role, you will engage with customers to design, document and deliver a world class network solution, implemented within the customer's own data centres. You will collaborate and coordinate closely with Sales, Operations, Product Management and Engineering to ensure these engagements are successfully initiated and completed. You will assist Project Managers to define deployment activities for green-field installs and major upgrades and also influence customers to make appropriate technology and project trade-offs to facilitate predictable, high quality, high-performance implementations of the products and services.

A strong technical background in IT infrastructure, technology development and deployment is essential for your success in this position. You must be able to work with minimal supervision and have a proven track record of managing multiple, competing, cross-functional projects simultaneously. Successful candidates will have experience working directly with customers to establish project scope and project activities, as well as defining joint roles and responsibilities, managing mutual commitments, change management and monitoring for, and addressing, new customer requests to drive overall customer satisfaction.

Experience/Skills: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a directly related field plus eight (8) years of relevant industry experience, preferably in the utility sector.

  • 8+ years of product development including solution delivery, preferably for deployment of a telecommunications network (wireless or wired) and/or large enterprise or internet/application service provider data center.
  • Demonstrated leadership, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will be able to describe multiple business situations where these skills have been leveraged.
  • Strong working knowledge of Linux and Windows servers including OS and network configuration.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and experience with Oracle Database; experience with PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels; must be able to work autonomously with customers with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess above average written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and concurrent projects.
  • Demonstrated skills in requirements gathering, resource organization, project/task prioritization and schedule development.
  • Experience and knowledge of gas, water and electric utility meter reading and related distribution automation technologies is desirable.
  • Hands on experience with Cisco IOS/IOX with solid understanding of networking and TCP/IP; experience with IPv6 a plus.
  • Technical training and knowledge of radio frequency equipment used in planning and installing radio network equipment and multiple wired/wireless wide area networks is also desirable.
  • Experience with GIS, CIS and other utility systems are highly desirable.

Location: Manila, Philippines

Travel Requirement: Ability to travel, principally in the Asia Pacific region, to attend onsite customer design workshops, develop agreed implementation plans and perform system deployment activities.

Telecommuting: Position involves a hybrid working arrangement working primarily from home office but also onsite at customer premises in Manila.
