Job Description

Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) Intern

Location: Mandaluyong City

Duration: Preferably minimum of 400 hours

Position Summary

The MERL Intern will provide technical and administrative support to the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning Department in the development, organization, and maintenance of a centralized database for project accomplishments and performance data. The internship offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in data management, monitoring and evaluation systems, and knowledge management within a development organization.

The intern will assist in consolidating project information, organizing datasets, and supporting the establishment of efficient systems for data storage, retrieval, analysis, and reporting. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in international development, social work, program management, and evidence-based decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of a centralized database for project accomplishments, outputs, outcomes, and other relevant performance indicators.
  • Consolidate, clean, validate, and organize data from various projects, reports, and source documents.
  • Support the standardization of data collection templates, encoding formats, and database structures.
  • Encode and update project information, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency of records.
  • Assist in data quality assurance, including verification, validation, and periodic data audits.
  • Organize and digitize historical project records, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Support the preparation of dashboards, summaries, and reports for internal monitoring and management use.
  • Assist in documenting database processes and user guidelines.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for MERL-related activities, as needed.
  • Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the MERL team.

Qualifications

-Currently pursuing a degree in:

  • International Development
  • Social Work
  • Management
  • Development Studies
  • Public Administration
  • Other related fields

-Strong interest in monitoring, evaluation, research, learning, and data management.

-Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data organization and basic analytical functions.

-Familiarity with database systems, data visualization tools, or statistical software is an advantage.

-Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and confidentiality.

-Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

-Good written and verbal communication skills.

-Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
