The Staff Manufacturing Equipment Engineer is a senior technical contributor responsible for the engineering ownership, reliability, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment supporting highvolume semiconductor production. This role provides technical leadership in equipment qualification, line sustaining, productivity improvement, and cost optimization while mentoring engineers and technicians and partnering closely with Manufacturing, Process, and Quality teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as equipment owner for assigned manufacturing tools, ensuring availability, reliability, safety, and performance.
- Lead linesustaining activities including troubleshooting, containment, and permanent corrective actions for chronic and highimpact equipment issues.
- Drive Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) improvement initiatives through systematic downtime analysis and defect reduction.
- Plan, execute, and validate preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, ensuring effectiveness and compliance.
- Lead equipment qualification, buyoff, and transfer activities for new, relocated, or upgraded manufacturing tools.
- Review and approve equipment modifications, change kits, and engineering changes to meet production, safety, and quality requirements.
- Perform and lead root cause analysis (RCA) using structured methodologies (8D, FMEA, WhyWhy) and ensure robust corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain work instructions, control plans, and maintenance standards for manufacturing equipment.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to support capacity expansion, yield improvement, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Manage spare parts strategy, cost models, and supplier engagement to optimize maintenance cost and response time.
- Provide technical mentoring and guidance to Equipment Engineers and technicians may act as SME or technical lead for a toolset or area.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
Experience
- Extensive experience in manufacturing equipment engineering within a semiconductor or electronics manufacturing environment.
- Proven background in line sustaining, equipment reliability, maintenance engineering, and OEE improvement.
