Job Description

The Senior Financial Analyst is a key role in supporting Financial Planning and Analysis within Asia Regional Controllers. This position involves consolidating historical financial data and supporting forward-looking forecasting and annual planning activities, ensuring timely and accurate service delivery.

The successful candidate will work closely with regional office partners and stakeholders across Asia markets to meet financial requirements effectively and efficiently, with primary focus on the Insurance business of Manulife.

Position Responsibilities:

Financial Planning and Forecasting

  • Primary responsible to support the preparation, analysis, and providing commentaries on the on the full annual planning and monthly forecasting cycle, ensuring high-quality information is delivered to key decision-makers in a timely manner.

  • Independently manage month-end close activities and produce periodical management reports according to the closing schedule.

  • Analyze financial results, identify inconsistencies, and provide commentary on specific focus areas.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of data flows within source systems to effectively extract and generate necessary data or reports. Foster strong partnerships with Anaplan and Power BI COE teams to collaboratively address stakeholder queries, ensuring timely and accurate service delivery.

  • Work with regional controllers to identify the reporting trend and patterns, highlight areas that need management attention to align with and achieve the Asia segment's strategic goals.

  • Participate in projects as assigned or other ad hoc activities.

Operational Support

  • Ensure the delivery of excellent service by proactively promoting customer centricity.

  • Initiate resolving critical issues raised during operations and proactively manage and monitor control efficacy to ensure potential risk is minimized

  • Support ad-hoc analysis to identify root causes of production problems and develop timely solutions

  • Effectively communicate significant production updates and challenges to management as well as to the business unit in a timely manner

  • Independently proposes and takes the lead to work on process improvements and/or operational analyses for management consideration

  • Efficiently coordinate and partner with developers and project teams to effectively deliver on process automations and initiatives.

Automation Champion

  • Identify and implement transformation initiatives on the FP&A processes with the goal of improving accuracy and contributing to overall cost efficiency of the team.

  • Governance on process improvements, organizing process solutions, and re-engineering of deliverables to establish efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Special projects will arise from time to time that will require strong financial knowledge, strong analytical and organizational skills with an innovative mindset. The incumbent will be responsible to partner with leader for transformation projects as mandated by senior management.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of progressive financial reporting and management experience Life insurance industry experience is a plus

  • Experience working with senior management teams with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strong stakeholder management capabilities

  • Strong finance skills with a solid understanding of the business environment

  • Knowledge of SmartView, Anaplan, Power BI, and Alteryx is a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with database applications

  • Professional attitude, collaborati ve, and results-oriented

  • Self-starter, detail-oriented, willingness to take ownership and accountability

  • Able to cope in a fast paced and dynamic work environment, with the mindset of continuous improvement and aiming for excellence
