Job Description

Position Title: Senior Accountant

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant will support the work of the General Ledger team and supervise / review the work of Junior Accountants. The role may be assigned specific finance projects or initiatives and assist in the monthly reporting requirements of the team. To develop holistic understanding of financial reporting and close process, the role may be assigned to various processes within the team. This will involve coordination with local finance on outstanding variances and makes the appropriate action to resolve it.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Line Management:

  • Primary liaison with BU Finance team/CFO regarding the General Ledger and issues relating to the accounts

  • Preparation of monthly financial statements and supplementary schedules for assigned Business Units

  • Coordination of month-end activities, including:

    • Preparation of necessary standard and recurring journal entries

    • Leading general accounting preparatory activities for month-end closing

    • Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and preparation of supporting analysis and schedules

    • Coordination of intercompany receivables and payables

    • Initial review of financial results and initiation of corrective actions

    • Reconciliation of inventory records versus the general ledger

  • Coordinate monthly results with assigned Business Units

  • Review accounting transactions and recommend procedural and system improvements for efficiency

  • Maintain fixed asset books, including tax books

  • Prepare and support regular reports for the team and BU Finance

  • Perform daily bank reconciliation for assigned BU accounts

  • Monitor and follow up reconciling items in bank reconciliations

  • Reconcile and review intercompany accounts receivable and accounts payable monthly

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by immediate superior

Quality Management:

  • Ensure controls are in place to address ICSP/SOX requirements

  • Implement and support new procedures, Management of Change (MOC), and improvements

  • Support Quality Assurance in driving continuous improvement initiatives impacting metrics and process flow using Lean concepts while ensuring adherence to documented control procedures

People Management:

  • Supervise Junior Accountant by assigning and delegating tasks

  • Identify and implement developmental training plans

  • Support training requirements in coordination with HR

  • Monitor progress of each team member

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations using the Performance Review system

  • Approve overtime, leaves, offsets, and shift changes for Supervisors/Team Leaders

  • Drive conflict resolution within the team

  • Conduct coaching and mentoring sessions

  • Initiate rewards and merit-based recognition

  • Participate in hiring processes and conduct employee orientation

Safety and Company Policy Management:

  • Enforce Company Code of Conduct, issue Notice to Explain (NTE), and recommend Disciplinary Action (DA) when necessary

  • Implement all safety policies and measures mandated by EH&S and contribute to action plans from audit findings

  • Ensure compliance with EHS training requirements

  • Maintain consistent implementation of the 5S program, including monthly audits and tracking of findings

  • Act as Emergency Response Incident Commander when required

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's/College Degree in Accountancy

  • Preferably a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

  • At least 5 years of audit and/or financial accounting experience

  • Strong computer literacy, especially in Excel, with experience in ERP systems

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • High level of initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Strong team player with leadership capability

  • Proven ability to work under pressure and multitask

  • Experience in a structured and process-driven environment

  • Exposure to international and culturally diverse organizations

  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent

  • Experience in shared services or multinational organizations
