This role requires proven practical expertise and a strong track record in Australian accounting and taxation. The successful candidate will demonstrate autonomy, precision, and advanced technical skills and eventually train and oversee a small team.
Responsibilities
- Hands-On Onboarding: Complete foundational tasks to master systems and procedures before taking on team oversight and management.
- Client Structures: Hands-on experience preparing financial statements and tax returns for Pty Ltd, trusts, and individual taxpayers.
- Tech Stack & Excel: Advanced Xero bookkeeping skills (including strict contact/payee tagging during cash coding) and complex Excel modeling (processing CSV bank feeds).
- Superannuation & Planning: Fundamental knowledge of SMSF/superannuation rules to support client tax planning and contribution strategies.
- Autonomous Problem-Solving: Ability to independently research unfamiliar transactions within set time limits and present solutions with proposed coding.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong focus on workpaper accuracy alongside active monitoring of WIP, budgets, and job recovery to flag overruns early.
Qualifications
- Has knowledge and experience on Australian Taxation
- Proven experience in accounting and taxation, particularly with group structures
- Strong technical proficiency in Xero and Excel.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Capacity to thrive in a fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines
- Interest in leadership position, and has the ability to lead a small team
