Senior Accountant
Overview
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing end-to-end accounting operations, financial reporting, intercompany transactions, accounts payable, and FP&A activities while supporting finance operations across New Zealand, Australia, Philippines, and Canada. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, strengthens internal controls, drives process improvements, and supports global finance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage general accounting activities, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, month-end and year-end close, and maintenance of accurate financial records.
- Prepare financial statements, management reports, budgets, forecasts, variance analyses, and other reports to support business decision-making.
- Oversee accounts payable processes, including invoice review, payment processing, vendor reconciliations, employee reimbursements, and cash advance monitoring.
- Manage intercompany transactions, including invoicing, reconciliations, settlements, cost allocations, and coordination with local and international finance teams.
- Monitor cash positions, bank reconciliations, aging schedules, outstanding receivables/payables, and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and corrective actions to address operational and reporting gaps.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, company policies, and audit requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation and reconciliation schedules.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across regional and global teams to ensure timely and accurate financial support and service delivery.
- Participate in finance transformation, system enhancement, and other strategic projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy; CPA preferred (or required, depending on business requirement).
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, or shared services environments.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting, financial reporting, intercompany accounting, and FP&A principles.
- Experience supporting multinational or multi-country operations is highly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including Pivot Tables, Power Query, Power Pivot, and advanced formulas); ERP experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively across different time zones and cultures.
- Experience in process improvement, automation, and data analytics/visualization is an advantage.
