The Role:
We're seeking a Senior Accountant. This role is designed for someone with strong construction accounting rigor who can manage general ledger accuracy, support month-end close, and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
You'll play a key role in construction accounting, revenue management, and internal controls, providing the analytical depth that supports leadership decision-making and organizational financial health.
Location: Must be in The Philippines – Remote.
Environment: Philippines and International Teams.
Language: Advanced English (B2 to C1).
Timezone: Monday to Friday – 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time (8:00 PM – 5:00 AM Philippine Standard Time), follows Philippine holidays.
Contract: Full Time
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, with revenue recognition experience in residential construction or homebuilding strongly preferred; CPA, CMA, ACCA, or equivalent certification is a plus but not required.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting principles, including job costing and percentage of completion method; experience with construction or homebuilding accounting software such as Sage, Timberline, Newstar, JD Edwards, or similar platforms, with multiple platforms preferred; advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including large datasets, pivot tables, VLOOKUP functions, and financial models.
- Characteristics: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, identifying discrepancies and investigating root causes; effective written and verbal communication with project managers, procurement, title and mortgage companies, and auditors; able to work independently with strong self-direction while contributing as a supportive team member; takes personal ownership of accuracy and audit readiness; manages fast-paced, deadline-driven close cycles and peak closing seasons with composure.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, deferrals, reclassifications, and cash transactions, and review and analyze general ledger accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Complete thorough reviews of final closing statements (HUD/ALTA) and job cost summaries, providing variance explanations that give leadership visibility into closing-level profitability.
- Reconcile construction loan accounts across multiple banking institutions, ensuring draws, repayments, and balances are accurately recorded and reconciled in a timely manner.
- Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, and support external audit processes with accurate documentation and reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly related party rebills for payroll and benefits, work with project managers and procurement on financial reporting, and provide training and support to junior accounting staff.
