JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant
DEPARTMENT/TEAM: Finance (FIN)
SUB-UNIT: Accounting
DIRECT SUPERIOR: Accounting Manager


Job Overview

Ensure timely and accurate recording of all business transactions in accordance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. Support the company in safeguarding its assets and assist management in decision-making.


Job Responsibilities

1. Financial Accounting

  • Ensure completeness of accounting transactions recorded in the accounting system

  • Prepare accruals and adjusting journal entries during month-end and year-end closing

  • Perform all functions related to fixed assets

  • Analyze capital expenditures and depreciation expenses

  • Reconcile monthly bank and book balances and prepare necessary adjustments

  • Analyze and monitor general ledger accounts and prepare accounting schedules

2. Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls

  • Comply with financial reporting requirements

  • Maintain confidentiality of all financial information and records

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with various teams to address accounting concerns and business requirements

  • Provide professional support and assist in special projects as needed

4. Reporting

  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports

  • Support reportorial requirements for:

    • Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)

    • Department of Energy (DOE)

    • Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC)

    • Board of Investments (BOI)

    • Other stakeholders

  • Ensure timely responses to audits and reviews by:

    • External auditors

    • Government agencies (e.g., BIR, DOE)

5. Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated on accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry best practices

  • Recommend and implement improvements to policies and procedures

  • Ensure compliance with Board of Accountancy (BOA) accreditation requirements for CPAs

6. Other Duties

  • Perform other related tasks necessary to achieve team and organizational goals


Job Requirements

Work Experience

  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience

  • Audit experience is an advantage

Educational Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of IAS, IFRS, BIR rulings, and applicable laws/regulations (energy industry is a plus)

  • Experience with ERP systems (preferably SAP or NetSuite)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer applications

  • Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills

  • Detail-oriented with good organizational ability

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

  • Effective time management skills
