- Key Responsibilities:
- Cost estimation:
- Studying project drawings and specifications to calculate the cost of materials, labor, and other construction elements.
- Preparing detailed cost breakdowns and budget proposals for clients.
- Conducting feasibility studies to assess project viability.
- Contract management:
- Preparing bills of quantities (BOQ) to clearly define project scope and pricing.
- Evaluating tenders from contractors and negotiating contract terms.
- Managing contractual variations and claims throughout the project.
- Project monitoring:
- Tracking project costs against the budget, identifying potential cost overruns, and proposing mitigation strategies.
- Analyzing variations in design and their impact on costs
- Reporting and communication:
- Preparing comprehensive reports for clients, project managers, and other stakeholders detailing project costs and financial status.
- Collaborating with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure project alignment and cost control.
- Qualifications and Experience:
- Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineer
- At least 3 - 5 years relevant experience in estimation and costing of Bill of Quantities
- Strong analytical skills to interpret complex construction drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to manage contracts and relationships with contractors
- Expertise in construction cost estimating software
- Knowledge of relevant construction contracts and legal frameworks
- Understanding of project management principles
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
