Job Description

The Pollution Control Officer (project-based) is responsible in monitoring, reporting and advising on pollution control measures to protect both public health and the environment, ensuring the Project meets environmental compliance, legal obligations and adopts phase of the Magat Floarting Solar Power Project.

The responsibilities associated with the position include:

Environmental Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with local and national environmental laws, particularly those related to air, water and solid waste management.
  • Implement pollution control measures that align with government regulations such as the Philippine Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act and Solid Waste Management Act.
  • Assist in acquiring environmental permits and ensure that operations are in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB).

Pollution Monitoring and Reporting

  • Regularly monitor emissions, effluents and waste generated by the Project to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  • Collect environmental data (e.g., air, water, noise levels) through field testing and lab analysis.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports to government agencies (e.g.,
  • EMB, DENR) documenting compliance, violations and corrective actions.
  • Track and maintain records of pollution data, inspection results and
  • compliance status.

Pollution Control Measures & Risk Assessment

  • Evaluate and assess the environmental impact of business operations and recommend pollution prevention strategies.
  • Work with management to design, implement, and maintain pollution
  • control systems such as wastewater treatment plants, air filtration systems, and waste segregation protocols.
  • Identify potential environmental risks (e.g., air or water pollution) and recommend corrective actions to mitigate these risks.

Waste Management

  • Oversee the implementation of solid and hazardous waste management programs, ensuring proper waste disposal, recycling, and treatment according to Philippine laws.
  • Ensure that the business complies with regulations on hazardous waste, including the management and disposal of chemicals, oils, and other harmful substances.
  • Monitor the company's waste management practices, ensuring safe and responsible disposal in line with the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act.

Training & Awareness

  • Conduct training programs and workshops to educate employees on environmental compliance, pollution control measures, and sustainable practices.
  • Raise awareness on proper waste disposal, resource conservation, and environmental protection.

Environmental Auditing & Investigations

  • Conduct regular environmental audits to assess pollution levels, operational practices, and compliance with environmental policies.
  • Investigate complaints related to pollution or environmental hazards, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Perform environmental assessments for new projects or expansions to identify potential environmental impacts.

Permit and Documentation Management

  • Ensure that the organization holds all necessary environmental permits, including air and water discharge permits, and renew them as required.
  • Prepare and submit environmental compliance reports, monitoring reports, and other documentation required by regulatory agencies.

Emergency Response

  • Respond to environmental emergencies, such as chemical spills or water contamination incidents, in compliance with national and local regulations.
  • Coordinate with government agencies during environmental crises to contain, mitigate, and resolve pollution incidents.
