Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Plumbing & HVAC Estimator / Takeoff Specialist to lead our plumbing and HVAC takeoff process for plan-and-spec projects. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex blueprints and finalized cost estimates, ensuring our pricing remains accurate, consistent, and competitive.

Schedule:

  • 20 hours a week. Thursdays, 8am to 4pm Mountain, the rest is flexible.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret architectural and mechanical construction drawings to perform highly accurate plumbing and HVAC takeoffs for plan-and-spec projects.
  • Identify and quantify specific equipment needs across various systems, including plumbing fixtures, forced air HVAC, and hydronic heating (boilers and piping).
  • Compile comprehensive cost estimates utilizing pre-built pricing components, established templates, and standardized pricing structures.
  • Structure scope and cost breakdowns into clear, professional spreadsheets to highlight key project drivers for owner review.
  • Follow established estimating workflows and company standards to ensure consistency and pricing integrity across all bids.
  • Prepare and coordinate detailed equipment lists to be handed off to the owner for vendor pricing and procurement.
  • Drive the back-end estimating process to ensure a rapid turnaround on all incoming project quotes and estimate requests.
  • Maintain a high level of precision and attention to detail to uphold the company's reputation for accurate and reliable project pricing.

Requirements

  • Prior experience as an estimator or takeoff specialist in the plumbing and/or HVAC industry
  • Strong understanding of plumbing fixtures, forced air HVAC systems, and hydronic heating components such as boilers and piping
  • High level of attention to detail when reviewing construction plans and calculating quantities
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimate requests simultaneously
  • Strong organizational and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and mechanical drawings
