JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Plant Manager will have overall responsibility for the efficient, safe, and compliant operation of an integrated poultry farm and co-located toll processing (dressing) plant. This critical role manages the entire production cycle—from chicken handling to the final processed product—and required expert knowledge in maintaining all industrial refrigeration and chilling systems essential for food safety and quality control in a multi-client processing environment. The manager will drive productivity, ensure adherence to stringent food and safety standards, and lead a diverse team to achieve operational and financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Farm Operations Management - Oversee daily operations of poultry houses, ensuring optimal environmental conditions (ventilation, heating, lighting), feed management, and water quality - - Implement and enforce strict bio-security protocols and disease prevention measures to maintain flock health and welfare Monitor and manage production performance data, including chicken growth rates, feed conversion rates (FCR), mortality rates, and medication usage records
B. Dressing Plant and Toll Processing Management - Plan, direct, and coordinate all processing activities, ensuring production schedules meet volume, yield, and quality targets for various toll processing clients - - - Ensure rigorous compliance with all food safety and regulatory standards, including HACCP, GMP, SOOP, and local government health regulations (e.g. NMIS in the Philippines) Oversee all steps of the processing line, including stunning, evisceration, washing, chilling, deboning, and packaging, ensuring hygiene and quality control for client specifications. Manage inventory of raw materials (live chicken), packaging supplies, and finished goods, coordinating with logistics for timely shipments.
C. Refrigeration and Facilities Management - Maintain expert knowledge and oversight for individual refrigeration, chilling, and freezing systems critical to the cold chain operation - Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance for all critical infrastructure, specifically ammonia or Freon-based refrigeration units, blast freezers, and cold storage facilities - Ensure energy efficiency and compliance of all cooling systems to maintain product quality and safety standards
D. Overall Management and Leadership - Develop and manage operational budgets, analyze production data, and implement cost-saving initiatives to optimize profitability Provide strong leadership, coaching, and development to department managers and frontline staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement Ensure all employees adhere to company policies, safety procedures, and local labor laws
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture or Animal Science, Food Technology, Engineering, or
Business Management is preferred.
Industrial Engineering management experience
People Management / Operations side
A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive management experience in poultry operations,
including a background in both farming and food processing environments
Prior experience in a toll processing or contract manufacturing setting is a plus
Deep understanding of live poultry management, food safety systems (HACCP, GMP),
and demonstrated hands-on experience or certification in industrial refrigeration
maintenance and operation is highly preferred
Must possess demonstrated hands-on experience and a strong technical understanding
of industrial refrigeration systems (ammonia or Freon-based), including maintenance,
safety protocols, and operations.
Certification in refrigeration if available are highly valued
Strong leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and committed to producing safe, legal,
and quality food products
With extensive engineering knowledge and experience.
