JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Engineering Supervisor will lead all engineering functions and maintenance activities across the integrated poultry farm and toll packing dressing plant. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all equipment and facilities. A core requirement of this position is specialized expertise in the maintenance and operation of industrial refrigeration systems, ensuring the cold chain integrity necessary for food safety and quality control in a multi-client processing environment.
Key responsibilities
A. Maintenance Operations -
Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive Preventive Maintenance and Predictive
Maintenance programs for all production equipment across both farm (ventilation, feed
systems) and plant (processing lines, stunning equipment, packaging machinery) operations.
Lead the maintenance team in minimizing equipment downtime through effective diagnostics
and prompt corrective actions.
Track work orders, inventory of spare parts, and equipment history.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, NMIS)
to prevent product contamination.
B. Engineering and Project Management
Identify opportunities for process improvement, equipment upgrades, and automation to
enhance plant efficiency and reduce costs.
Manage capital expenditure (CapEx) projects from planning and budgeting to installation and
commissioning, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Collaborate with the Plant Manager to ensure facility infrastructure remains compliant with
all local building codes and safety regulations.
C. Industrial Refrigeration Expertise
Oversee all aspects of industrial refrigeration systems (ammonia/Freon-based), including
daily operations, preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting, and efficiency
optimization.
Ensure full compliance with safety regulations and environmental protocols related to
refrigerant use and storage.
Manage contractors for specialized refrigeration repairs and capital projects related to cooling
infrastructure.
D. Team Leadership and Safety -
Lead, mentor, and train the maintenance and engineering team to improve technical skills and
adherence to safety protocols.
Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring all maintenance personnel follow LOTO
(Lockout/Tagout) procedures and proper safety gear usage. -
Manage the department budget, control maintenance costs, and manage vendor relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the Philippines is a strong advantage (plus)
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a maintenance or engineering management role within a
food processing, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment.
Extensive, hands-on experience with industrial refrigeration systems is mandatory
Prior experience in a poultry, meat, or cold storage facility is highly preferred.
Expert knowledge of industrial refrigeration (ammonia preferred), electrical systems, PLCs,
hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drives.
Familiarity with food safety regulations (HACCP, GMP) and occupational safety standards
(OHSAS)
Proficiency with maintenance software and standard office software.
Strong leadership, analytical problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to
perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
