Hi! We're Smartsourcing, and were looking for a detail-driven Payroll Officer to support Australian operations full-time and onsite. If you're experienced in end-to-end payroll and passionate about accuracy and compliance, this role is for you.

Your Role as Payroll Officer

As a Payroll Officer , you'll manage end-to-end payroll processing, interpret Australian awards (RIA, HIGA, EBA), validate timesheets and overtime loadings, process terminations and leave payouts, and handle payroll adjustments such as backpays. You'll also coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure payroll records are accurate, compliant, and up to date.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing & Award Compliance

• Process payroll in accordance with RIA, HIGA, and EBA awards
• Handle payroll for salaried managers across multiple venues
• Process termination payouts in line with legislation and company policy
• Ensure employees are paid accurately and on time

Timesheet Validation & Overtime Management

• Export and reconcile timesheets from Deputy
• Compare Excel exports with PDF records
• Amend overtime and loadings as required
• Identify and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll finalization

Employee Lifecycle Payroll Administration

• Onboard employees in Deputy and MYOB using Flare data
• Process internal change logs (promotions, transfers, reinstatements, etc.)
• Process leave payouts due to status or venue changes
• Maintain and update payroll coversheets and records

Payroll Adjustment & Backpay

• Process backpays from previous pay runs
• Ensure payroll corrections are accurate and documented

Payroll Records & Documentation

• Maintain compliant payroll records
• Ensure documentation aligns with Australian payroll legislation and company policies

Payroll Query Resolution & Stakeholder Support

• Address payroll-related concerns from employees and venue managers
• Clearly communicate payroll processes and compliance requirements
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth payroll operations

Planning Coordination & Process Improvement

• Coordinate with departments to meet payroll deadlines
• Anticipate and resolve payroll discrepancies
• Contribute to workflow improvements and regulatory updates

AI Readiness & Digital Enablement

• Use approved AI tools responsibly and in compliance with company policies
• Participate in required AI training and upskilling initiatives
• Identify opportunities for process improvement through automation

What Makes You a Strong Fit

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• At least 2-3 years of end-to-end payroll experience
• Preferably with experience processing payroll in accordance with Australian awards (RIA, HIGA, EBA)
