The Network Engineer will be responsible for supporting and troubleshooting network infrastructure, ensuring the stability and performance of enterprise-level networks. This role requires in-depth knowledge of networking protocols, hardware, and software, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve network issues efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a background and experience in network operations and knowledgeable of network technologies. Workload will be 70% operations and 30% project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide L2 support for network-related issues escalated from L1, performing detailed analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution.
- Escalate unresolved or complex issues to senior engineers and managed service/vendor, ensuring timely resolution within defined SLAs.
- Maintain on-call support rotation for critical incidents, ensuring high availability of network services and timely restoration during outages.
- Assist with configuration, installation, and lifecycle maintenance of network hardware/software (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, WLCs, etc.).
- Perform routine health checks, monitoring, and patch/firmware upgrades to ensure network stability and compliance.
- Respond to incidents and outages, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective/preventative measures.
- Document network configurations, troubleshooting steps, and maintain operational runbooks.
- Collaborate with server infra, security, and managed service/vendor teams to ensure seamless network operations and support change management.
- Monitor network alerts and respond promptly to capacity, security, and performance events.
Do you have experience as a Network Engineer
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in network engineering or network support, particularly in an L2 role.
- Strong understanding of IP protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.) and routing and switching concepts (OSPF, BGP, VLANs, Spanning Tree, etc.).
- Knowledgeable of network security technologies including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPN appliances.
- In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN, VPN, wireless and remote access technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco, Aruba, or other enterprise-grade networking hardware.
- Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios or PRTG.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly troubleshoot and resolve network issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Cisco CCNA or equivalent certification required; CCNP or similar higher-level certifications are preferred.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud environments.
- Scripting or automation knowledge (Python, Ansible) is a plus.
- Knowledge of network performance optimization techniques, including QoS, bandwidth management, and link aggregation.
- Familiarity with Wi-Fi technologies and troubleshooting.
