Job Title: L2 Network Support Engineer

Experience: 4+ Years Network experience

Role Type: Global Network Operations Support

Shift: 24x7 rotational shifts (as per global support coverage)

Job Summary

The L2 Network Support Engineer will support global Network Operations, ensuring stability, performance, and security of enterprise network infrastructure. The role involves troubleshooting and operational support across firewalls, routing, switching, and wireless technologies, and acts as a key escalation point for L1 support teams.

Key Responsibilities

Network Operations & Support

• Provide Level 2 support for global network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents and service requests within SLA.
• Act as an escalation point for L1 engineers.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and support problem management.
• Participate in change management, maintenance windows, and upgrades.
• Coordinate with internal teams, ISPs, and vendors during incidents.

Firewall & Security Technologies

Configure, manage, and troubleshoot firewalls:

• Fortinet FortiGate
• Cisco ASA
• Check Point
• Palo Alto (basic to intermediate exposure)
• Firewall rule analysis, NAT policies, and log troubleshooting.
• Access-list and object groups
• Site-to-site and remote access VPN troubleshooting (IPSec / SSL).

Routing & High Availability

Hands-on experience with routing technologies, including:

• BGP
• PBR
• SDWAN via Fortinet technology
• Troubleshoot routing-related connectivity issues across WAN environments.

Experience with gateway redundancy protocols:

• HSRP
• VRRP

Layer 3/2 Routing & Switching

Strong understanding and operational experience with:

• VLAN configuration and VLAN Trunking
• Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) – troubleshooting loops and convergence issues
• VTP
• SVI and ACL

Hands-on experience with enterprise network platforms:

• Cisco Catalyst switches
• Cisco Meraki switches & wireless
• Fortigate Firewalls
• Cisco Routers (ISR/ASR)
• Cisco ASA
• Checkpoint Firewall
• Troubleshoot LAN connectivity issues, port configurations, and uplinks.

Wireless Networking

Experience supporting Cisco Meraki Wireless solutions.

Troubleshoot wireless issues related to:

• SSID configuration
• Client connectivity
• Authentication and coverage issues
• Support day-to-day wireless operations and incident handling.

Required Skills & Qualifications

4+ years of experience in Network Support / Network Operations.

Strong troubleshooting skills across:

• Firewalls
• Routing
• Switching
• Wireless

Solid understanding of networking fundamentals:

• TCP/IP, OSI model
• LAN/WAN concepts
• Experience working in 24x7 global network operation environments.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management).
• Good documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Certifications (Good to have any of the following)

• Fortinet NSE 4 or higher
• CCNA / CCNP (Routing & Switching or Security)
• Check Point CCSA / CCSE
• Palo Alto PCNSE
• ITIL Foundation
