As an Intermediate Accountant, you will work closely with our Australian clients to maintain high-integrity financial records and drive the compliance process. This role is designed for a technical professional with a solid foundation in Australian Public Practice, capable of managing everything from complex corporate actions to the preparation of financial statements for ATO lodgment. You will act as a bridge between junior staff and management, ensuring targets are met while optimizing digital workflows through smart automation and meticulous general ledger maintenance.

Your Impact

  • Technical Compliance & Lodgment: Lead the processing of accounts up to the Trial Balance stage and prepare comprehensive financial statements for lodgment with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

  • General Ledger & Subsidiary Management: Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and reconciling transactions. You will manage the transfer to the general ledger and resolve any discrepancies with precision.

  • Comprehensive Reconciliations: Own the reconciliation process for bank accounts, balance sheets, and monthly debtor/creditor accounts. You will also reconcile asset holdings and process complex corporate actions.

  • Management Reporting & Projections: Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts and reports. You will also provide critical foresight through superannuation and income projections.

  • Process Automation: Manually match remaining transactions while proactively creating bank rules for recurring items to enhance system efficiency.

  • Operational Integrity: Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by synthesizing account information. You will protect organizational value by maintaining strict confidentiality of all financial data.

  • Team Synergy: Maintain open lines of communication between junior staff and management to ensure all business targets and deadlines are consistently achieved.

What You Bring

  • The Experience: At least 3 years of work experience in Australian Accounting, with a specific background in an Australian public practice or accounting firm.

  • The Credentials: Graduate of Accountancy or a related degree program.

  • Technical Mastery: Deep knowledge of Australian financial preparation, including BAS, IAS, and FBT Returns. You are proficient in managing full-cycle bookkeeping and AP/AR management.

  • Operational Discipline: Excellent time management skills and a highly organized approach to handling multiple client accounts.

  • Communication: Superior written and verbal English communication skills, essential for collaborating with Australian stakeholders and mentoring junior team members.

  • Analytical Skills: A strong ability to analyze account information and apply critical thinking to complex reconciliations and corporate actions.
