Job Summary
The Payment Posting Specialist is responsible for accurately managing the organization's payment posting processes. This includes posting patient (self-pay) and insurance payments, applying contractual adjustments, reconciling daily bank deposits, and researching missing or misapplied payments to ensure accurate account balances.
Job Description
- Accurately post all insurance and self-pay payments to patient accounts on the date of receipt, in accordance with client policies and procedures.
- Ensure all posted payments align with actual bank deposits and resolve any discrepancies.
- Research and apply insurance contractual adjustments to maintain accurate account balances.
- Perform daily reconciliation and reporting of posted and deposited payments.
- Investigate and resolve misapplied or missing payments to ensure proper account allocation.
- Participate in weekly quality assurance evaluations and adhere to established QA standards.
- Support compliance initiatives by following policies related to HIPAA, FDCPA, FCRA, and other applicable regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in payment posting, accounts receivable, or financial reconciliation within a healthcare or revenue cycle environment is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including working with tables and basic formulas for reporting and analysis.
- Familiarity with healthcare payment systems and insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOB) documents.
- Ability to accurately read, interpret, and apply EOB details, including adjustment codes.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Ability to follow established processes and procedures for payment posting and reconciliation.
Screening Criteria
- At least 1–2 years of relevant experience in payment posting, accounts receivable, or a related healthcare/RCM role.
- Stable employment history.
- Willingness to work onsite in Angeles.
