About the Role
The HR Generalist (APAC) serves as the primary local HR point of contact for the APAC office,
supporting the full employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding. This role acts as a bridge
between the local team in APAC and the centralized HR, Recruitment, and Payroll operations in
Malta, ensuring full compliance with Philippines labor laws, local administrative efficiency, and a
smooth employee experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
Local HR Administration & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date electronic employee personnel records in compliance with GDPR.
- Serve as the local contact for Philippines labor authorities.
- Prepare local employment contracts, contract addenda, and official HR documentation based on company templates and local regulations.
- Gather, manage, and track visa and work permit documentation for international employees in Manila, Philippines.
- Oversee local leave management, tracking vacation, sick leave, and time-off requests in coordination with global tracking systems.
- Communicate internal HR policies, procedures, and guidelines to local staff and answer day-to-day employee queries.
Payroll & Benefits Support
- Act as the local liaison for the Malta-based Payroll team.
- Collect and verify all monthly payroll-related data for APAC employees (e.g., joiners/leavers, variable pay, tax ID changes, health insurance details) and hand off accurate reports to the Malta payroll team on time.
- Administer local employee benefits, health/medical programs, and statutory insurances, advising employees on eligibility and setup.
Local Recruitment & Onboarding
- Partner with local hiring managers to coordinate full-cycle recruiting for the APAC office.
- Source, screen, and vet CVs; schedule and conduct interviews (both remote and on-site) for prospective APAC team members.
- Lead local onboarding, employee orientation, and probation period check-ins, delivering actionable feedback to hiring managers.
- Represent the company at local career fairs, online job boards, and community networking events to build a local candidate pipeline.
Employee Lifecycle & Office Support
- Manage offboarding procedures: ensure formal resignation letters are received, conduct exit interviews, collect company assets, and process leaver paperwork.
- Conduct probation review interviews and assist line managers with performance check-ins.
- Support local HR-related administrative tasks, office culture initiatives, and internal team projects as needed.
Requirements
- University degree (or equivalent qualification) in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or HR Administrator role, ideally within an international or cross-border matrix organization.
- Strong, updated knowledge of Philippine labor laws, social security rules, and processes with local authorities.
- Business fluency in English (written and verbal) is essential.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills; strong interpersonal abilities; high degree of discretion, tact, and confidentiality.
