Overview
The Head of Freight Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, operational performance, and commercial results of the domestic air and sea freight business across the Philippines. This position ensures end-to-end operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and profitability while strengthening national freight capabilities and supporting long-term growth and digital transformation initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, or related discipline.
- MBA or postgraduate degree is strongly preferred.
Experience
- At least 15 years of progressive experience in logistics, freight forwarding, transportation, or supply chain operations.
- Minimum 710 years in a senior leadership role with direct oversight of air and/or sea freight operations.
- Proven track record managing nationwide, multi-site domestic logistics networks within the Philippine market.
- Demonstrated P&L ownership and experience driving operational profitability and cost efficiency.
Additional Relevant Qualifications
- Strong background in network design, capacity planning, and trade lane management.
- Experience in digital transformation initiatives (TMS, WMS, ERP, freight visibility platforms).
- Deep understanding of customs processes, port and airport operations, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and strategic planning skills.
- Experience handling large-scale teams across geographically dispersed operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the domestic freight strategy in alignment with corporate growth objectives.
- Identify opportunities for network expansion, route optimization, and strategic partnerships across key ports and airports nationwide.
- Champion innovation, digitalization, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance scalability and operational efficiency.
Operations & Service Excellence
- Provide executive oversight of end-to-end domestic freight operations, ensuring on-time delivery, cargo integrity, and cost efficiency.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration across operations, sales, customer service, finance, and external partners (airlines, shipping lines, port operators, and agents).
- Establish and monitor KPIs related to service reliability, capacity utilization, turnaround time, and profitability.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Lead full P&L ownership of the domestic freight business.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cost optimization, and yield management initiatives.
- Partner with commercial teams on pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and strategic account management.
Regulatory & Risk Management
- Ensure strict compliance with Philippine transportation, customs, and industry regulations.
- Oversee risk management frameworks covering safety, security, operational continuity, and disaster preparedness in a multi-island operating environment.
People Leadership
- Lead and develop senior managers and operational leaders across multiple sites.
- Build succession pipelines and strengthen organizational capabilities.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and performance excellence.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a senior representative to government agencies, strategic partners, and key customers.
- Strengthen long-term partnerships with carriers, port operators, and industry stakeholders.
