The Head of Air and Sea Freight Operations is a senior executive responsible for the strategic leadership, operational excellence, and commercial performance of domestic air and sea freight business across the Philippines. This role oversees end-to-end operations, network optimization, regulatory compliance, and profitability, while driving service reliability and customer satisfaction in a highly dynamic logistics environment. This position will play a critical role in strengthening domestic freight capabilities, supporting national supply chains, and aligning operations with the company's growth, digitalization, and customer-centric strategies.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the domestic freight strategy, aligned with the Company's overall corporate and growth objectives.
- Identify expansion, network optimization, and partnership opportunities across Philippine trade lanes and key ports/airports.
- Drive innovation, process improvement, and digital adoption to enhance operational efficiency and scalability.
Operations & Service Excellence
- Provide executive oversight of domestic freight operations, ensuring on-time performance, cargo integrity, and cost efficiency.
- Ensure seamless coordination between operations, sales, customer service, finance, and external partners (airlines, shipping lines, ports, and agents).
- Establish and monitor KPIs related to service levels, utilization, turnaround times, and operating margins.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Own the P&L for the domestic freight business.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and yield management initiatives to improve profitability.
- Support commercial teams in pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and key customer engagements.
Regulatory & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with Philippine regulations and industry standards.
- Manage operational, safety, security, and business continuity risks, particularly in a multi-island and weather-sensitive operating environment.
People & Leadership Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop senior managers and high-potential leaders within the domestic freight organization.
- Build a strong leadership pipeline and succession plan for critical operational roles.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as a senior representative with government agencies, strategic partners, and key customers.
- Strengthen long-term relationships with carriers, port operators, and industry stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
- Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
Experience
- 15+ years of progressive experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or transportation.
- Minimum 710 years in a senior leadership or executive role, with direct accountability for air and/or sea freight operations.
- Proven experience managing nationwide domestic logistics networks, preferably within the Philippine market.
- Demonstrated ownership of P&L and large, multi-site operations.
