Key Responsibilities
A. Tax Compliance
- Prepare income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships.
- Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) returns.
- Assist with basic tax planning, tax adjustments, and reconciliations.
- Support the team in meeting ATO deadlines and maintaining compliance.
B. Financial Reporting
- Prepare year-end financial statements and supporting workpapers.
- Assist with monthly or quarterly management reports, as required.
- Perform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of general ledger entries.
C. Bookkeeping & General Accounting
- Perform data entry, bank reconciliations, and journal processing.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate records for all clients.
D. Client Interaction
- Communicate with clients to gather required records and clarify financial information.
- Provide a professional and responsive service with a focus on building trust and reliability.
E. Software Use
- Work with Xero, MYOB, Reckon, or similar accounting software.
- Assist in maintaining cloud-based client files and ensuring data integrity.
Key Skills & Experience
- At least 3 years of experience handling end-to-end general accounting in Australian public practice.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related.
- Must have direct relationship or interaction with upper management.
- Good working knowledge of Australian tax law and compliance requirements.
- Experience preparing tax returns, BAS, and financial statements.
- Xero experience preferred (other accounting platforms also welcomed)
- High attention to detail and accuracy in work
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and grow within the team
- ideally studying or planning to start CA or CPA
