Job Title: General Accountant

Job Summary
The General Accountant is responsible for managing the hotel's financial records, ensuring compliance with Philippine taxation laws (BIR), and delivering accurate financial reports including Profit & Loss statements. This role requires strong analytical capability, hands-on experience with hotel systems such as Sun System and Opera, and a deep understanding of hospitality finance operations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and analyze monthly Profit & Loss (P&L) statements and other financial reports.
- Present financial performance, variances, and insights to management.
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and cost optimization.
- Monitor departmental budgets vs. actual performance.
Accounting Operations
- Maintain accurate general ledger entries and ensure timely month-end closing.
- Handle journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations of accounts.
- Ensure proper documentation and audit trail for all financial transactions.
Systems Management
- Utilize Sun System for accounting processes and financial reporting.
- Manage and reconcile revenue data from Opera (PMS).
- Ensure integration accuracy between hotel systems and accounting records.
Taxation & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with BIR regulations, including preparation and filing of tax returns (VAT, EWT, etc.).
- Monitor updates in Philippine tax laws and ensure adherence.
- Assist in external audits and government compliance requirements.
Revenue & Cost Control
- Analyze hotel revenue streams (rooms, F&B, other income).
- Support internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with operations (Front Office, F&B, Sales) to ensure accurate financial data.
- Provide financial insights to department heads.
- Support financial planning and forecasting activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field
- CPA is an advantage but not required
- Minimum 3–5 years experience in accounting, preferably in the hotel or hospitality industry
- Strong experience with:
- Sun System
- Opera PMS
- In-depth knowledge of Philippine taxation (BIR compliance)
- Strong background in financial analysis and P&L preparation
- Advanced Excel and reporting skills
- Excellent analytical, presentation, and communication skills
