About the Role
We are seeking a strategic Finance Director to lead the full financial operations of a major infrastructure construction company in Abuja, Nigeria. As a key member of the executive team, you will oversee financial planning, compliance, project finance, and risk management across large-scale civil engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Lead financial strategy aligned with business objectives
- Advise the CEO and Board on financial matters
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring
- Drive capital allocation and investment decisions
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare financial statements per IFRS and Nigerian regulations
- Manage audit processes and auditor relationships
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax laws and FIRS obligations
- Maintain robust internal controls and governance frameworks
Project Finance & Cost Management
- Oversee financial management of infrastructure projects
- Monitor project budgets, costs, and contract performance
- Review project financial models, pricing, and bid submissions
- Manage cash flow and working capital across concurrent projects
Treasury & Risk Management
- Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and treasury
- Oversee foreign exchange exposure and currency risk
- Identify and mitigate financial risks across the portfolio
- Lead and develop the finance team
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
- MBA or postgraduate qualification (preferred)
- CPA, CFA, or ACCA (strongly preferred)
Skills
- Deep knowledge of IFRS and Nigerian tax regulations
- Strong financial modelling and cash flow management
- Proficiency in ERP and financial systems
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management
Experience (Mandatory)
- Minimum 3 years as Finance Director in a construction industry is a plus
