Role Summary:
The Distribution Manager is responsible for the overall management of distribution center operations, including receiving, put-away, storage, picking, checking, and outbound dispatch. The role ensures excellent inventory accuracy in quantity, freshness, location, and system records, while delivering reliable service to stores and customers. The Distribution Manager leads people development, fosters a safe and healthy working environment, and manages operating expenses to operate within approved budgets.
Key Responsibilities
Distribution & Warehouse Operations
• Oversee daily receiving, put-away, picking, checking, and outbound dispatch operations.
• Ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and delivered on time.
• Establish, implement, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Optimize warehouse layout, slotting, and material flow to improve efficiency.
• Ensure optimum capacity utilization. Call out expansion as needed.
Inventory Accuracy & Control
• Maintain high inventory accuracy across physical stock and system records.
• Ensure accuracy in quantity, location, and freshness through FIFO/FEFO compliance.
• Lead cycle counts, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for discrepancies.
• Control losses related to damage, expiry, and shrinkage.
Process Improvement and Projects
• Continuous improvement in DC processes, productivity and efficiency
• Leadership to any system enhancements or new automation in the DC or Supply chain network that may have impact processes
• Leadership in optimizing capacity and DC layout.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
• 7–10+ years of distribution or warehouse operations experience, including people management. • Strong knowledge of inventory control, warehouse operations, and safety standards.
• Experience using WMS/ERP systems and managing operational KPIs.
• Lean, Six Sigma, or safety certifications are an advantage.
