Next Staffing Group is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Controller to lead the financial operations for ourdynamic laboratory and research client,specializing in innovative hair care products. This is an exceptional, fully remote opportunity designed specifically for Controller professionals looking to leverage their expertise in a US-based, high-growth environment.
About the Role
The Controller will be a key leader in the organization, overseeing all accounting functions, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. You will ensure the integrity of the client's financial data, manage the budget process, and provide critical financial insights to drive strategic business decisions within the client's science-driven organization.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Audit:
- Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Coordinate and manage all external audit and tax activities, serving as the primary liaison.
- Develop and maintain a robust system of internal controls and safeguards to protect company assets.
Budgeting & Financial Planning:
- Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting activities.
- Conduct comprehensive variance analysis, interpreting financial results, and communicating actionable insights to the executive team.
- Manage cash flow, monitor debt, and optimize financial resources.
Operational Accounting:
- Manage all general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local legal and tax reporting requirements.
- Drive process improvement initiatives within the finance department to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Strategic Support:
- Partner with management to analyze costs related to R&D, laboratory operations, and production to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve profitability.
Work Environment & Logistics (Mandatory Requirements)
- Fully Remote Opportunity: This position is a 100% work-from-home role, offering flexibility from your location in the Philippines.
- Required Schedule: You must be available to work and report during US Business Hours, Monday to Friday (8:00 AM 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time - EST), to ensure seamless collaboration with the US-based executive team.
- Time Tracking: Daily work time will be monitored using a designated time tracking software, such as Time Doctor, to maintain accountability and transparency in a remote setting.
- Equipment: Must have a functional laptop or PC, reliable high-speed internet connection, a quiet home office environment, and be proficient in using virtual communication and collaboration tools like Google Workspace and Slack
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or MBA certification is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or Senior Accounting Manager role.
- Demonstrated experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or R&D-heavy industry is a significant advantage.
- Deep working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency with major ERP systems (Traverse ERP) and advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, financial modeling).
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead, manage, and mentor a remote team (or to manage a function independently).
