Job Title: Finance Manager (Outsourced Finance Operations Lead)

Scope: AP | AR | Fixed Assets | General Ledger

Role Summary

The Finance Manager will oversee the delivery of outsourced finance operations across Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Fixed Assets (FA), and General Ledger (GL) through an external service provider.

This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely transaction processing, strong governance, compliance, and continuous improvement across core finance processes. The Finance Manager will act as the key liaison between internal stakeholders and the outsourcing partner, ensuring service levels are met and financial controls remain strong.

Key Responsibilities

Outsourced Finance Operations Oversight (AP/AR/FA/GL)

  • Oversee day-to-day delivery of outsourced finance operations across AP, AR, Fixed Assets, and GL processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, collections, cash application, journal entries, reconciliations, and fixed asset accounting.
  • Monitor and manage backlogs, exceptions, and operational risks, ensuring prompt resolution.

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting Support

  • Lead and coordinate month-end close activities in partnership with the outsourcing provider.
  • Ensure timely completion of key close deliverables including:
    • journal entries and postings
    • accruals and provisions
    • balance sheet reconciliations
    • intercompany entries (if applicable)
    • fixed asset depreciation and capitalization
  • Ensure close timelines are met and issues are escalated early.
Vendor / Outsourcing Partner Governance

  • Act as the primary finance point of contact for the outsourcing partner.
  • Run regular governance meetings (weekly/monthly) covering performance, risks, and action plans.
  • Track SLA/KPI performance such as:
    • invoice cycle time and accuracy
    • payment timeliness
    • AR aging and collections effectiveness
    • dispute resolution cycle times
    • close timeliness and reconciliation completion
    • fixed asset register accuracy
Controls, Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure compliance with internal finance policies, SOX/internal controls (if applicable), and audit requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, evidence, and process walkthroughs.
  • Review and approve SOPs, process maps, RCM/control documentation, and risk mitigation plans.

Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with internal teams including Procurement, Treasury, Operations, Sales, HR, and IT.
  • Ensure business requirements are communicated clearly to the outsourcing provider and translated into operational execution.
  • Manage escalations and align stakeholders on solutions and timelines.

Process Improvement & Transformation

  • Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and strengthen controls.
  • Support automation and transformation initiatives (e.g., workflow tools, OCR, e-invoicing, cash application automation).
  • Drive standardization across processes and ensure documentation remains current.

Systems & Tools (ERP)

  • Act as a key finance user for the ERP system (e.g., SAP / D365 preferred).
  • Coordinate UAT, change requests, and issue resolution related to finance operations.
  • Ensure effective system controls and proper access governance in coordination with IT.

People Leadership

  • Manage internal Team Managers and Teams or process owners supporting governance, reporting, and issue resolution.
  • Coach team members and drive accountability across finance operations deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • CPA/CA is preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in finance operations or accounting, covering AP/AR/GL and month-end close.
  • Experience working with an outsourced finance operations provider is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of finance controls, compliance, and audit support.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong end-to-end finance operations knowledge (AP, AR, FA, GL).
  • Proven experience managing vendors and driving SLA performance.
  • Strong analytical skills (aging analysis, reconciliation reviews, root cause analysis).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, ambiguity, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and reporting tools.
  • ERP experience required (SAP / D365 highly preferred).

Preferred Experience

  • Shared services / outsourcing governance experience.
  • SAP or D365 environment experience, including finance module exposure.
  • Exposure to process improvement, transformation, or automation initiatives.
