Job Description

ESTIMATOR

Location: Clark, Pampanga
Work Arrangement: Onsite, Fulltime
Shift: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM | Monday - Friday

About this role . . .

Compile estimates and quote responses ensure are accurate, complete and on time. These will be in line with the company policies, procedures and values, with relevant information and calculations that support to win the work.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety

  • Actively promote and adhere to all OHS policies and procedures, ensuring a safe workplace at all times for yourself and your colleagues. Reporting all accidents, incidents and hazards in the workplace to your supervisor/manager.

Environment

  • Ensure all environmental compliance requirements are met, and all Environmental Policies and procedures are adhered to at all times. Participate in waste reduction and energy and water use efficiency programs.

Quality Assurance

  • Comply and support company Quality Management systems, processes and procedures and provide feedback. Participate in audits, both internal and external as required.

Tendering

  • Have a complete understanding of all estimating procedures and the ability to compile submissions that are accurate, informed, competitive and complete.
  • Compile estimates and quotes as directed by the Lead Estimator or Senior Estimator.
  • Understand the structure and meaning of the clients Request for Tender (RFT) document and the entire bid process.
  • Follow the entire quote process, including:

    Perform a complete read-in
    • Conduct a brief back to the Lead Estimator or Senior Estimator
    • Prepare the estimate
    • Prepare client RFIs
    • Pricing requests and bid tabs for materials and subcontractors
    • Provide daily progress updates to the Lead Estimator or Senior Estimator
    • Prepare Tender Summary (as required)
    • Prepare technical clarifications
    • Prepare the clients pricing schedules
    • Prepare submission deliverables
    • Conduct final quote review
    • Preparation for quote approval process
    • Completion and final checking of all submission deliverables
    • Ensure that all submission deadlines and commitments are met
  • Participate in the development and implementation of proposal strategies with any of the Lead Estimator, Senior Estimator or Estimating Manager and ensure this is included in the submitted bid.

Estimating

  • Monitor the estimating norms, database and processes to ensure costs for estimates are based on accurate / realistic norms and current market values. Seek approval for all proposed norm changes from the Lead Estimator / Senior Estimator / Estimating Manager.
  • Read and understand RFQ commercial conditions through consultation with the Senior Estimator / Lead Estimator and incorporate any required changes in the tender response.
  • Ensure that work method statements (or construction methodologies) are consistent with our proposal and with the client's criteria.
  • Ensure that construction schedules are consistent with our proposal and with the client's criteria.
  • Ensure that organizational charts are consistent with our proposal and with the client's criteria. Ensure that resumes are consistent with the organizational charts.
  • Continue to expand the company's subcontractor and supplier base and promote healthy relationships with them.

Project Award Handover

  • Participate in the estimate handover including Tender Handover Meeting document, estimate plans, specifications, schedule and any other handover documents
  • Participate in the Tender Handover meeting with the Project Manager (PM) after award of project.
  • Assist with better buying for the project team
  • Assist with value engineering solutions where we present alternative products or design to the client after award.

Client Handover

  • Establish a relationship with the Client's contact person during the tender period to ensure clear understandings are passed between both parties for the duration of the tender and negotiation stages.
  • Communicate clearly and honestly with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.

Team Management and Teamwork

  • Work with the Lead Estimator / Senior Estimator to ensure that all team members and departments are aware of their tasks and responsibilities for each quote and proposal to ensure timely, accurate and relevant information / deliverables and calculations are submitted for review.
  • Coordinate the identified resources to deliver their tasks to complete the estimate and tender response.
  • Support peers and the Estimating Administrator to make the estimating team run smoothly, effectively and professionally.
  • Actively participate in the estimating department and whole business to ensure values, vision and direction are met.

Systems Management

  • Ensure that you understand and comply with the systems, policies and procedures in place in relation to estimates, quotes and proposals.
  • This will include creating estimates in the Simpro system.
  • Utilize the Google drive document collation system for quotes.

Performance Management

  • Strive for high standards of technical performance and continual improvement in all areas.
  • Measure personal performance against the required standards and take corrective action where necessary.
  • Complete all other assigned tasks within your capabilities.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Degree qualification in electrical engineering
  • Extensive experience in estimating or other relevant role within the commercial, industrial, mining, resources or construction industry
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
  • High levels of computer literacy with a focus on MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience in using WinEst, Simpro or any other database estimating software.
