Job Description

Job Title: Duty Engineer

Location: Seda BGC, Bonifacio Global City

Reports To: Director of Engineering/ Asst. Engineering Manager

Job Summary

The Duty Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and safety of all hotel engineering systems and facilities. This role supports daily engineering operations, responds to technical issues, and ensures preventive maintenance programs are executed. The Duty Engineer must be a Licensed Mechanical Engineer with relevant hotel or hospitality experience.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Maintenance

  • Oversee day-to-day engineering operations including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure all hotel equipment and facilities are functioning efficiently and safely.
  • Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations.

Preventive Maintenance

  • Implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for all mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities and equipment history.
  • Coordinate repairs and servicing to minimize downtime and operational disruption.

Technical Expertise

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to HVAC systems, pumps, generators, chillers, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Ensure optimal performance of air conditioning and ventilation systems.
  • Monitor energy usage and recommend energy-saving initiatives.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and hotel policies.
  • Maintain proper documentation for permits, licenses, and inspections.
  • Enforce safety procedures and proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Participate in emergency response and crisis management activities.

Team Coordination

  • Supervise technicians and coordinate daily engineering tasks.
  • Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to engineering staff.
  • Coordinate with other departments to address operational needs.

Administrative Duties

  • Prepare daily engineering reports, incident reports, and maintenance logs.
  • Assist in managing spare parts inventory and requisition of materials.
  • Support budgeting and cost control initiatives of the Engineering Department.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Mechanical Engineer (required).
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in hotel engineering or hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, pumps, generators, and building maintenance.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance systems and building management systems (BMS).
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work on shifting schedules, including weekends and holidays.
