Your Role
As a Database Engineer, you will:
- Administer and maintain SQL Server estates, including access, job scheduling, backup/restore, performance monitoring, and capacity planning; coordinate database restore actions as required.
- Monitor and maintain batch jobs, automation tasks, respond to alerts and failures to ensure operational stability.
- Operate and support SQL Stack technology (SSIS, SSRS, SQL Server) and maintain BI and operational reporting platforms (Power BI, Power Platform).
- Ensure observability and timely completion of jobs to meet SLA and business reporting requirements.
- Assist in Data Projects and bringing datasets into data platforms.
- Provide hands-on support for critical monthly processes, including backups/restores, automation monitoring, failure investigation, and escalationsparticularly during the 10th12th of each month; weekend work may be required.
- Implement data quality checks, lineage documentation, and change control while maintaining secure handling of data across file systems and BI platforms.
- Execute changes via SDLC/Agile practices, raise tickets for technical issues, and drive root-cause analysis and permanent fixes.
- Provide clear, timely updates during critical windows via MS Teams and email to internal stakeholders and external vendors.
Non-negotiables
What You Need:
- Proven experience administering SQL Server (backup/restore, performance, security), SSIS, and exposure to SSRS.
- Experience operating automation/orchestration applications and troubleshooting alert conditions.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues with SSRS, application services, and automation tasks during critical invoice/reporting processes.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow ticketing, MS Teams communication, and secure handling of enterprise data.
- Experience meeting strict cut-off deadlines for enterprise reporting and financial operations.
- Exposure to enterprise reporting platforms (Power BI datasets/gateways) and performance optimization.
- Willingness to work hybrid night shifts and provide support during critical processing windows, including after-hours and weekends as required.
- Strong ownership, attention to detail, and ability to operate autonomously or collaboratively under pressure.
Preferred Skills/expertise
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Advanced SQL knowledge and familiarity with data warehousing concepts.
- Exposure to Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms.
- Relevant certifications in SQL Server, Power BI, or Data Engineering.
