Role Summary

The Portfolio Risk Analyst is responsible for monitoring and analyzing the SME loan portfolio to protect asset quality and support disciplined credit growth.

The role combines portfolio analytics, IFRS 9 support, bank statement forensic analysis, leverage validation via borrowing detection, and maintenance of risk reporting systems. The analyst ensures that every credit file undergoes structured bank statement analysis under defined internal logic standards and that portfolio risk trends are identified early.

This is an execution-focused analytical role reporting to the CLO, supporting both credit discipline and portfolio stability.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data and Bank Statement Analysis – Mandatory File-Level Review

• Ensure 100% of credit files undergo structured bank statement analysis prior to approval.
• Maintain and enforce internal bank statement review standards across all files.
• Validate:
• Revenue consistency
• Cash flow volatility
• Seasonality normalization
• Bounce frequency
• Related-party flows
• Overdraft behavior
• Perform quality control checks on underwriting cash-flow assessments.
• Periodically review approved files for compliance with internal analysis standards.

2. Detection of Non-Declared / Under-Declared Borrowing

• Develop and maintain detection parameters for identifying undisclosed liabilities from bank data.
• Identify indicators such as:
• EMI-like recurring debits not declared
• Transfers to NBFCs / digital lenders
• Short-cycle borrowing patterns
• Stacking behavior
• Revenue diversion to alternate accounts
• Round-tripping transactions
• Cross-validate bank-derived signals with bureau data and internal exposure data.
• Escalate concealment risk cases to CLO.
• Continuously refine detection logic to reduce false positives.

3. Portfolio Database Management (Looker)

• Maintain and validate portfolio database integrity in Looker.
• Ensure accurate:
• Stage tagging
• Restructured account tagging
• Write-off classification
• Undeclared borrowing flagging
• Reconcile Looker dashboards with core system and ECL engine.
• Improve dashboard automation and data consistency.

4. Automation & Google Apps Script Development

• Develop and maintain internal automation tools using Google Apps Script.
• Automate:
• Data validation routines
• Portfolio reporting extracts
• Exception tracking logs
• Improve efficiency of file-level analysis through scripting and automation.
• Ensure version control and documentation of all automation tools.

Decision Rights

• Provides analytical recommendations only.
• Does not approve credit policy changes.
• Does not approve provisioning journal entries.
• Escalates material risk issues to CLO & CEO.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 4–8 years in SME credit / portfolio risk analytics
• Strong bank statement analysis capability (hands-on)
• Experience detecting hidden leverage / stacking behavior
• IFRS 9 / ECL working knowledge
• Advanced Excel (mandatory)
• Looker / BI proficiency required
• Working knowledge of Google Apps Script required
• SQL preferred
• Strong analytical rigor and process discipline
