Job Description

Responsible for leading the end-to-end governance, accounting, reporting, and controls over costing accounting, inventories, and fixed assets across all manufacturing plants and retail stores. The role ensures the accuracy of inventory valuation, product costs, fixed asset records, and related financial reporting while driving standardization, process improvements, compliance, and strong internal controls within the organization.

Cost Accounting

  • Oversee product costing accounting processes across all manufacturing plants and retail businesses.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of standard costs, BOMs, routing costs, overhead allocations, and production cost structures in the system.
  • Review and validate monthly manufacturing cost reports and inventory valuations.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances
  • Coordinate annual standard cost updates and periodic cost roll-ups.
  • Ensure consistent costing methodologies across all manufacturing sites

Inventory Accounting and Controls

  • Oversee inventory accounting and reporting for raw materials, packaging materials, work-in-process, finished goods, spare parts, and indirect materials.
  • Ensure timely reconciliation of inventory balances between ERP systems, subledgers, and general ledger accounts.
  • Review inventory aging, slow-moving, obsolete, damaged, and inventory provisions.
  • Lead month-end inventory closing activities and financial reporting requirements.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and investigate significant inventory variances.
  • Oversee monthly and annual physical inventory counts across all plants.
  • Ensure inventory transactions comply with accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Drive process improvements that strengthen inventory governance.

Fixed Assets Management

  • Oversee the complete fixed asset lifecycle including acquisition, capitalization, transfer, depreciation, impairment, retirement, and disposal.
  • Ensure compliance with company capitalization policies and applicable accounting standards.
  • Review and approve asset capitalization requests and construction-in-progress (CIP) / project cost accounting.
  • Ensure timely asset settlement and project closure in ERP systems.
  • Manage fixed asset register accuracy across all manufacturing facilities.
  • Coordinate fixed asset tagging, periodic physical asset verification, and reconciliation of asset records with accounting balances.
  • Review depreciation calculations and ensure timely month-end processing.
  • Monitor asset utilization and provide reporting on capital investments and assets under construction.

Financial Reporting and Compliance

  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities related to costing, inventory, and fixed assets.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations for inventory and fixed asset accounts.
  • Support statutory and external audit requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS/PFRS, company accounting policies, and internal control standards.
  • Prepare management reports and analytics related to inventory performance, manufacturing costs, and capital expenditures.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to inventory valuation and asset management.

Process Improvement and Systems

  • Spearhead standardization, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize costing, fixed asset, and inventory reporting and management across all plants and retail stores.
  • Strengthen governance over ERP master data impacting costing, fixed assets and inventory transactions.
  • Support ERP implementation, upgrades, and process transformation initiatives.

Stakeholder Management and Team Leadership

Manages two specialized teams:

  1. Fixed Assets Team – responsible for fixed asset accounting, capitalization, depreciation, asset lifecycle management, and physical asset controls.
  2. Costing & Inventory Team – responsible for product costing accounting, inventory accounting, inventory controls, manufacturing variance analysis, stock reconciliations, and inventory reporting across all plants.

Lead and build team capabilities to achieve accuracy, reporting and governance objectives.

Collaborates closely with Plant Finance, Engineering, Retail Finance, and Corporate Finance teams in driving accurate reporting, strengthening controls, and supporting business performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • At least 8-10 years of progressive experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting, fixed assets, and financial controllership, preferably within FMCG, manufacturing, or retail organizations.
  • Minimum 3 years of managerial or supervisory experience overseeing multiple teams.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing finance, standard costing, inventory management, fixed asset accounting, and financial controls.
  • Strong expertise in SAP S/4HANA Fixed Asset Accounting, Product Costing and Material Ledger, with hands-on experience in BOM costing, routing-based cost calculations, standard cost rolls, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variance analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements, standardization, and controls governance initiatives.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
