Job Title: Construction Estimator

Summary: This role involves preparing accurate cost estimates for residential construction projects, managing relationships with vendors and subcontractors, and overseeing the procurement of materials. The Estimator ensures projects are executed efficiently, within budget, and in compliance with building codes while securing competitive pricing and maintaining smooth operations throughout the project.
About the Job
Key Duties:
- Plan Interpretation: Analyze construction plans and blueprints to fully understand project scope and requirements, ensuring that estimates align with the job's specifications.
- Estimate Preparation: Produce highly specific and accurate job estimates for remodeling projects, considering all aspects such as labor, materials, permits, and other costs, while ensuring competitive pricing.
- Building Code Compliance: Ensure that all estimates adhere to local building codes and regulations, confirming that all legal requirements are met throughout the estimation process.
- Material Selection and Costing: Leverage knowledge of building materials to select appropriate products and determine costs, ensuring accurate and realistic budget forecasting.
- Cost Analysis: Assess and interpret job costs with precision, accounting for contingencies, material waste, and potential delays to ensure comprehensive estimates.
- Estimating Tool Development and Maintenance: Regularly update the pricing database with accurate information from vendors and subcontractors. Utilize tools such as CoConstruct and Speed Estimator to maintain efficient, accurate, and reliable estimates.
- Subcontractor and Vendor Relationship Management: Develop and sustain strong partnerships with subcontractors and vendors to secure competitive pricing and ensure alignment with the company's commitment to quality and excellence.
- Project Estimation and Feasibility Studies: Generate detailed cost estimates for all aspects of construction projects, ensuring clarity in specifications and determining project feasibility.
- Materials Management: Oversee the ordering, tracking, and delivery of building materials, ensuring efficient operations, managing inventory, and proactively addressing any supply chain delays or challenges.
- Coordination with Chief Operations Officer: Provide administrative support to the Chief Operations Officer, including calendar management and inbox organization, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in residential construction, with at least 2 years focused on construction estimating.
- Proficient in producing detailed, accurate job estimates and specifications for remodeling projects.
- Strong understanding of local building codes, materials, and remodeling estimating techniques.
- Skilled in interpreting and analyzing construction plans, blueprints, and job costs.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet software; familiarity with CoConstruct Project Management and Square Takeoff Software is a plus (or similar tools).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to problem-solve and handle complex tasks effectively.
